Marcus Semien's home team got a little bit bigger this month.

Amid the Texas Rangers' playoff run, the second-baseman, 33, welcomed his fourth baby with wife Tarah Murrey. Daughter Amelie was born on Thursday, Oct. 12, the athlete shared upon rejoining his team for the American League Championship Series (ALCS).

Clinching the division and securing the win that takes them to the World Series, Semien celebrated in a post-game interview with his three older sons — Eki, 2, Joshua, 5, and Isaiah, 8 — and shared an update on his family's whirlwind month.

"It's been a crazy couple of weeks. We finished the last week of the season, and I didn't know if I was gonna have a baby or not. I'm on the road. We finished the DS and decided to induce and it's been a crazy week, as I said," he shared as he reflected on the game.

“We signed up for it,” Semien said in another interview. “When you’re playing baseball this late in the year, I mean, these are the most meaningful games of my life. And they’re the most meaningful games for our family. So it’s tough that I can’t be there, but Tarah is a competitor. She’s ready for me to have a good series here, get this win and bring it back to Texas.”

Semien revealed the family's baby news in a media update days after his daughter was born.

"These games all mean so much and it's tough but I was able to be there and spend the two days in the hospital and get home and get on a flight. Everybody's good and everybody's healthy and happy and we're all blessed," he said.

"I think that every father in here who has been in a hospital at that time, you know, you're just worried about your wife. You get a couple of hours of sleep here and there, but you make sure your loved ones are good."

Semien and Murrey are high school sweethearts who first met at St. Mary’s and continued their romance as student-athletes at UC Berkeley, where Murrey was a volleyball player. They tied the knot in January 2012.
