Texas A&M Football listed as one of the Top 25 ‘Best Programs’ based on their history of AP Poll finishes

Football Rankings season is truly a beautiful thing, mostly due to its entertainment value when both College Football and the NFL are in the midst of their offseasons, and the people just want more content to argue with each other about instead of constantly asking “what does the X in XFL stand for?”

For Texas A&M, Football is everything no matter how bad the previous season may have been because the manta of “there’s always next year” fits the Aggies mold better than most programs, but instead of just focusing on the current Jimbo Fisher-led years, taking a step back to acknowledge the vast history of success dating back to the mid-1930s when leather helmets were still being utilized is quite the trip if you bleed maroon and white.

Recently, 247Sports ranked the Top 25 Best College Football Programs based on their AP Poll finishes from 1936 – Present, and even though the Aggies 5-7 2022 season has left some fans discouraged while looking towards the future, appreciating what the program has accomplished in the span of 87 seasons should enlighten even the most pessimistic of Aggies.

Texas A&M landed at No. 21 in the rankings, holding a 771-498-48 (.604) All-Time Record while accumulating 18 Conference Titles (17 in the South West Conference, 1 in the Big 12), three claimed National Titles in 1919, 1927, and 1939, two Heisman Winners (RB John David Crow, 1957, QB Johnny Manziel, 2012) and 53 First-Team All Americans.

Yes, recent success matters and Jimbo Fisher is surely under the coaching microscope entering his sixth season, but have one of the better representatives of the program, he’ll never shy away from embracing the proud traditions Texas A&M holds so dearly, while always thanking those in the past for creating the legacy that is Aggie Football.
