Texas climbs nine spots in USA TODAY Sports’ latest re-rank

The Big 12 Conference is loaded with talented teams this season.

The latest USA TODAY Sports’ Coaches Poll has five Big 12 teams within the Top 25, with Texas and Oklahoma receiving votes on the outside looking in. The conference title race is seemingly up for grabs for over a handful of teams up to this point.

The biggest surprise of the season has to be Kansas’ 5-0 record. The Jayhawks have impressive wins over Houston, West Virginia and Iowa State under their belt. Lance Leipold has to be in the running for coach of the year for this spectacular turnaround.

Oklahoma is dealing with a bit of adversity after dropping two conference games in a row to Kansas State and TCU. On the other hand, Texas rebounded in a big way to defeat West Virginia last week after suffering a heartbreaking loss to Texas Tech the week prior.

In USA TODAY Sports’ updated re-rank this week, seven Big 12 teams landed within the Top 40. The Sooners tumbled 19 spots in the rankings, while Texas climbed nine spots.

Here’s a look at where each Big 12 team currently stands in the re-rank.
