EXCLUSIVE: Independent Artist Group has signed Terrence Howard, the Academy Award-nominated and Golden Globe-winning actor known for roles in Hustle & Flow, Crash and Empire, for representation.

Howard earned those accolades for his starring turn in the former Paramount film from director Craig Brewer, which had him starring as DJay, a Memphis pimp in the midst of a mid-life crisis who hustles his way toward becoming a successful hip-hop emcee.

For his turn as TV director Cameron Thayer in the Lionsgate Best Picture winner Crash, examining interweaving stories of race, loss and redemption amongst L.A. citizens leading vastly different lives, he received the National Board of Review Award for Breakthrough Performance. Among those starring opposite him there were Sandra Bullock, Don Cheadle, Brendan Fraser, and Matt Dillon.

Over the course of his film career, Howard has worked with many of the top directors and actors in the business. Among his other most notable credits are Denis Villeneuve’s Prisoners with Hugh Jackman, The Butler with Lee Daniels, Iron Man with Jon Favreau, The Brave One with Jodie Foster, August Rush with Robin Williams, and The Company You Keep with Robert Redford.

Howard can currently be seen opposite Dolph Lundgren in Showdown at the Grand, an action thriller from Shout! Studios, which follows a proud movie theater owner who must defend his family business from corporate developers, alongside a legendary action star, as art imitates life in a showdown for the ages.

Otherwise best known for his portrayal of music mogul Lucious Lyon on Fox’s Empire, Howard has most recently appeared on the TV side in The Best Man: The Final Chapters, which at the top of this year became Peacock’s first original to break into Nielsen’s Top 10 streaming rankings. Among the actor’s upcoming projects is John Ridley’s Netflix pic Shirley, starring Regina King as America’s first Black congresswoman, Shirley Chisholm.

Howard continues to be managed by Mira Howard.
