The Atlanta Police Department on Wednesday released audio from two 911 calls made during the shootings at massage parlors in and near the city that left eight people dead.

The first call was made at about 5:45 p.m. ET from Gold Spa in northeastern Atlanta. It was the second such business targeted in what the police say was a killing spree by a single suspect, Robert Aaron Long, 21.

Less than an hour earlier, four people were shot dead at a spa in Cherokee County, about 30 miles away.

The caller, a woman, spoke quietly, apparently concerned about being heard. Her identity is not clear. Here is the audio:

"Need police," she told the emergency call operator, adding that she believed a man was committing a robbery.

"Do you have a description of the male?" the operator asked.

"Hiding right now, that's why," the woman said. "They have a gun."

"Where is the person who is robbing the spa? Where is he right now?" the operator asked.

"I don't know. I'm hiding right now," the woman said.

"Please come, OK?"

When the police arrived at the scene, they found three women with fatal gunshot wounds.

Across the street, at the Aromatherapy Spa, another shooting was in progress, and one woman was shot dead.

Six of the eight people killed were women of Asian descent.

At a press conference Wednesday, the police did not rule out a racial motive for the killings but said Long, who is white, told them he had a sex addiction and the spas were a "temptation for him that he wanted to eliminate."

In a second call released by the police, received about 10 minutes after the first, a woman said she had just received a call from a friend at Aromatherapy Spa.

She said her friend described hearing gunshots and seeing a woman who was passed out. The operator on that call asked the caller to again explain what happened.

"Some guy came in and shoots the gun, so, everybody heard the gunshots, and some lady got hurt, I think," she said. "And everybody's scared, so they're hiding, but the lady's passed out."

Authorities identified Long as the suspect by using surveillance-camera footage from the venues, and authorities have said he was caught after a car chase. He was charged Wednesday with eight counts of murder and one count of aggravated assault.
