Her mother, Melissa, says the now 14-year-old is violent, aggressive and a bully – and she reached out to Dr. Phil for help.

When Dr. Phil suggests that Destoni is in deep pain, her mother explains that it might stem from the teen’s father being sent to prison when she was a little girl.

“Do you recognize that pain has left you raw? That pain has left you where you’re striking out at other people out of pain,” Dr. Phil asks Destoni.

“I’m pretty sure everybody would be hurt if their dad left when they were 4. They didn’t have anybody to grow up with, nobody to teach them that somebody else loves them than just their mom,” Destoni says. “I’m pretty sure they would all be heartbroken knowing their dad doesn’t care about them.”
