A 16-year-old whose gun jammed after he stepped onto a school bus and pointed the weapon at the head of a student pleaded guilty to attempted murder, authorities say.

Kaeden Holland, known as “Baby K,” and two other teens “stormed” onto a school bus in Upper Marlboro, Md. in May 2023, Prince George’s County State Attorney Aisha Braveboy said in a release.

Authorities say Holland, who was 15 at the time, pointed the gun at the student’s head and chest and pulled the trigger three times, but the weapon malfunctioned and the victim survived.

Holland pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder and use of a handgun in commission of a crime of violence and faces 25 years in an adult facility, prosecutors say.

“This was a very serious case and the actions of Kaeden Holland were heinous,” Braveboy said in a statement. “It’s important for him, other young people and everyone else to know that there are consequences to their actions. It doesn’t matter how old you are, my job and that of the prosecutors in my office is to hold anyone committing crime in Prince George’s County accountable for their actions.”

WTOP reported that last week a judge ruled Holland would be tried as an adult had his case gone to trial.

Holland, a rapper, made music under the name BabyK 2800, according to a report from WTOP. He was arrested after evading authorities for weeks in May 2023, WUSA reported.
