Two families eating at a local Tennessee diner were in for a not-so-sweet treat on Monday night.

Six people were having dinner at a table at The Grind restaurant in Martin, Tennessee, when a deer crashed through the window from the parking lot. The video, obtained by Fox Weather, shows the glass shatter, prompting the family inside to jump out of their seats and scurry away while a man went after the deer.

The Tennessean later reported that as the animal flew over a table, its hoof hit 13-year-old Ruby Hayes’ shoulder. She was taken to a nearby hospital and reportedly received 11 stitches for the wound.

Once inside the restaurant, the deer continued to make its way around tables, knocking over chairs in the process, until it finally stopped in a different part of the diner. Cameras then show it speeding through the area behind the bar.

Customer Alicia Owens, who was seated at the table the deer crashed into, told The Tennessean she “couldn’t believe” what was happening, adding that the situation was “so bizarre.”

"It’s sliding on the glass, it can’t get its footing. It’s frantically trying to get up," Owens told the outlet. "I couldn’t comprehend it was actually a deer. We’re in the middle of town, across the street from the University of Tennessee, Martin. It’s like, what in the world?"

Owens also said Hayes, although shaken up, is home and happy.
