An 18-year-old died after he stood up through a sunroof and got struck by a beam while in a mall parking garage in Canada.

The Edmonton Police Service said in a statement that West Branch patrol officers responded at 1:45 p.m local time on Thursday to a welfare call in the north parkade at West Edmonton Mall.

"It was reported to police that a Toyota Camry sedan was travelling through the parkade when an adult male passenger stood up through the sunroof of the sedan," police said in a statement. "As the vehicle was passing underneath a ramp, the passenger struck a concrete beam."
