Teen Burns NRA After ‘Favorite Teacher’ Opens Fire: ‘Tell Me Arming Teachers Will Make Us Safe’

A Dalton High School student had some immediate thoughts for the NRA after one of her teachers opened fire at her Georgia school on Wednesday.

“My favorite teacher at Dalton high school just blockaded his door and proceeded to shoot. We had to run out the back of the school in the rain,” wrote the student, who uses the Twitter handle @_omg_chondi_. “Students were being trampled and screaming.”

She pointedly concluded: “I dare you to tell me arming teachers will make us safe.”

The National Rifle Association and President Trump have both advocated allowing some specially trained teachers to bring firearms to protect their students. The Dalton High teacher obviously wasn’t what they had in mind: Police told told CNN that social studies teacher Randal Davidson, 53, opened fire after refusing to let students into his classroom, when the principal attempted to open the door. The school went on lockdown, and Davidson surrendered to police after 30 to 45 minutes, police said.

High school students who have survived school shootings are becoming increasingly visible gun-control advocates. Emma González, a survivor of the Parkland, Fla. shooting that killed 17, has amassed 1 million followers for her Twitter account — @Emma4Change — since she began speaking out against the NRA.

One of her classmates, David Hogg, has called out conspiracy theorist Alex Jones over his claim that school shootings are routinely faked to drum up support for gun control. Hogg is scheduled to appear this Friday on “Real Time With Bill Maher.”

@_omg_chondi_ also had words Wednesday for someone who suggested she and her classmates were trained “crisis actors.”

“Do you have any clue how disrespectful this is??? I don’t know if your really this stupid or just an a–hole, but I don’t think I or any of my classmates were in for a plan to risk our lives in our own school.”

She did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday, but TheWrap was able to independently confirm she is a Dalton student.

Trump explained after the Parkland shooting why he believes arming teachers could prevent violence.

“These people are cowards. They’re not going to walk into a school if 20 percent of the teachers have guns — it may be 10 percent or may be 40 percent. And what I’d recommend doing is the people that do carry, we give them a bonus. We give them a little bit of a bonus,” Trump said. “They’ll frankly feel more comfortable having the gun anyway. But you give them a little bit of a bonus.”
