Tears flow as Selma Blair withdraws from ‘Dancing With the Stars’ for health reasons

Selma Blair bid farewell to Dancing With the Stars, Monday. In 2018 the actress revealed she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. But she didn't let that stop her from coming on the show and putting on some amazing performances. Unfortunately, it just became too much for her.

“I can’t go on with the competition,” Blair told her partner, Sasha Farber. “I pushed as far as I could.”

Blair explained that she has been monitoring her body since the competition began, and that doctors had discovered some damage to her body.

“My body is definitely taking a hit,” Blair said. “It’s way too much for the safety of my bones. There’s just intensive bone trauma and inflammation among rips and tears. So I could do extensive damage that of course I do not want.”

Despite the dangers, Blair wanted one last dance. And there wasn’t a dry eye in the audience as she and her partner Sasha Farber put on a breathtaking performance.

While the final performance was emotional for fans, most of them were proud of her for what she accomplished. One person tweeted, “Selma went out like a queen, she really made everyone in that audience feel something tonight.”

And with her last performance behind her, Selma was able to breathe a sigh of relief. The actress had been worried about sustaining an injury.

“I don’t want there to be something serious,” Blair explained. “Because I am a mom and I don’t want to get laid up again, because I’m afraid I won’t get back, is the truth. I’m afraid I won’t get back to anything.”

Even though her score was technically irrelevant, it didn’t seem that way when all the judges gave her perfect 10’s. And while the whole experience was special for Selma, she hopes she inspired the most important person in her life.

“Arthur, I love you the most,” she said, while hugging her son. “And I just want to say I loved this and sometimes there’s gonna be uncomfortable things for you in life and you just do it with a smile.”
