TD from flea-flicker off reverse helps Georgia State get its first bowl win

Georgia State got its first bowl in program history Saturday, defeating Western Kentucky 27-17 in the Cure Bowl.

The Panthers scored 14 straight points in the second half after leading 13-10 at halftime. One of those touchdowns came off a nifty flea-flicker that started as a reverse and resulted in a 42-yard pass from Conner Manning to Roger Carter.

The Cure Bowl was the second bowl appearance for the Panthers, who first went to the Cure Bowl after the 2015 season. That year ended with a loss to San Jose State.

2017 has proven to be a big year for the Panthers too. The season began as Georgia State moved into the renovated Turner Field. The school took over the Atlanta Braves’ old ballpark as the baseball team moved to new digs at SunTrust Park.

And now the Panthers, 7-5, have the first winning record since the program’s inception in 2013. Western Kentucky finishes the season 6-7.
