TCU-Baylor skirmish results in penalties on every player from both teams

Things got pretty chippy in the second half of TCU’s win over Baylor on Friday.

With TCU leading 35-22 late in the third quarter, Baylor’s JaMycal Hasty took a hard hit near the sideline at the end of a first down run. Hasty was engaged with a TCU defender when another TCU player, defensive tackle Chris Bradley, drilled him out of bounds.

That started a chain reaction. Bradley was hit by Baylor lineman Sam Tecklenburg, who was then hit by TCU’s Ross Blacklock. Blacklock was then drilled by Baylor’s Blake Blackmar before TCU’s L.J. Collier hit Blackmar from behind.

The whole thing set off a fracas that took some time to break up.

Once order was restored, here is how the officiating crew dealt with it:

“Unsportsmanlike conduct, TCU bench. Everybody on the field will get an unsportsmanlike. Unsportsmanlike conduct on Baylor. Everyone on that bench will get an unsportsmanlike.”

Yep. Every player on both teams was hit with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

That’s the second time we’ve seen that this season. You now have company, Tennessee and Kentucky.

For TCU, it could prove costly. The fracas will certainly be reviewed by the Big 12. With the conference title game against Oklahoma on deck, it wouldn’t be a surprise if a few Horned Frogs players were suspended.
