TCP presents 'A Night of Musical Comedy'

Apr. 29—GREENSBURG — The Tree County Players production of "A Night of Musical Comedy" runs on the TCP Playhouse stage Thursday and Friday, May 2 and 3. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with show beginning at 7 p.m. There will be light refreshments available in the lobby before the production begins.

"Night" is a compilation of 14 tunes chosen from musical theater history. It's a unique opportunity to listen to local artists as they pay homage to musical comedy from Broadway and the silver screen.

It's also a chance to check out the other talents of folks we meet and work with every day.

You'll be surprised to know that Toni Kellems can really sing. The Public Health Nurse at the Decatur County Health Department shows off her vocal and comedic talents as she puts a hilarious twist on the "Spamalot" anthem Find Your Grail.

Greensburg City Clerk-Treasurer Amy Borns, who first danced across the TCP stage when she and husband Dan played opposite each other in 2017's "Mary Poppins," puts on a very distinct whine (chuckle) as she belts the Diva's Lament, also from "Spamalot."

Jim Powell breathes special life into My Attorney Bernie and "I'm Hip" as no one else can. Jim has long been a member of the TCP's Cast of Characters and pays homage to the legendary pianist/comedian Dave Frishberg.

Even Dr. Nikki Boersma and husband Matt get into the act as Sondheim's Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett. Their sardonic rendition of A Little Priest puts a dash of madness into the baking of pies and life in London during the industrial revolution.

The emcee for the show is Allyson Bolen and the accompanist is Deanna McCullough.

Tickets are now on sale by visiting www.treecountyplayers.com or by calling the Tree County Players office at 812-222-4766 and leaving a message. Tickets are $15 for non-TCP members, $12 for members and $10 for children.
