TCCF: Series Mania, TAICCA Jointly Launch ‘Serial Bridges’ Workshop To Strengthen Europe-Asia Co-Production

France’s Series Mania Festival is teaming with Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) to launch a workshop, Serial  Bridges, in France and Taiwan next year that is aimed at East Asian screenwriters and producers.

The workshop will be run by Series Mania Institute, the education and training division of the annual Lille-based festival, and is part of an on-going partnership with Taiwanese government agency TAICCA.

Laurence Herszberg, Managing Director of Series Mania, announced the workshop today at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF) in Taipei. It will begin next year at Series Mania Festival, which is scheduled for March 15-21, and conclude at the TCCF in November 2024.

The two partners said the workshop is aimed at developing international serial co-productions between Europe and Taiwan and strengthening Taiwan’s position as a creative hub for audio-visual production.

It is open to six writer/producer teams with a series project. Of the 12 participants selected, half will come from Taiwan and the other half from other East Asian countries. Participating duos will work on their projects with recognized professionals from the serial industry.

They will work in four sessions between March and November 2024 and present their series projects at TCCF 2024.

“The launch of a workshop aimed at East Asian professionals is in line with the continuity of our industrial and cultural cooperation with TAICCA, with the objective to strengthen Taiwan’s position as an international creative hub,” said Herszberg.

“We’re delighted to be able to put our school’s expertise at the service of the development of international co-productions, which is a real recognition of our know-how.”

Serial Bridges will offer series professionals expertise in areas including dramaturgical skills, the understanding of international financing systems and the ability to find co-production opportunities for their projects – between Taiwan and Europe, but also within East Asian countries.

Series Mania Institute also runs an international workshop in Rio de Janeiro, in partnership with RioFilme, Projeto Paradiso, Rio Film Festival, SICAV, FIRJAN, Institut Français de Paris and the French Embassy in Brazil.
