TCA Big Band & VocalAires having 20th anniversary concert Sunday, May 19

TECUMSEH — This coming Sunday, the TCA Big Band & VocalAires will celebrate their 20th annual spring concert with a reflection on the group's history and a look to the future.

"Past, Present, Future — 20 Years in the Making" has a special start time of 7 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at the Tecumseh Center for the Arts, 400 N. Maumee St. There will be a reception at 6 p.m. with refreshments and a display of memorabilia from the band’s first 20 years, a news release said.

Tickets for the concert are $10 each and are available in advance at the TCA box office or by calling 517-423-6617. The box office is open from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Tickets also can be purchased online anytime at thetca.org, or the day of the show beginning at 6 p.m.

"Past, Present, Future" will feature the  VocalAires on songs such as "Night and Day," "Girl from Ipanema," "Orange Colored Sky," "White Cliffs of Dover," "They Can't Take That Away from Me" and "Accentuate the Positive." The band will present such favorites as "That's Life," "Leap Frog," "The Way You Look Tonight," "Tuxedo Junction," "Moonlight Serenade," among others. The group will also feature lead tenor saxophone player Dale Chadderdon on "Last of the Red-Hot Tenors," lead trumpet Larry Harper on The Tonight Show Band’s version of "Stardust," the trombone section with "‘Bone Town Blues" and the sax section with "Opus in Pastels."
