Taylor Swift’s Latest Persona: Meet ‘Catastrophe’

Apparently just being a “nightmare” (dressed as a daydream) isn’t enough for Taylor Swift. The superstar is upping her “Blank Space” game, having released a cryptic photo on Twitter announcing her newest persona she’s apparently adopting for her next music video.

“Meet Catastrophe,” Swift tweeted on Thursday, including a film noir-style poster showing off her new—and equally noir—look for her upcoming “Bad Blood” video. The singer is dressed in a black leather jacket and stares ominously at the camera, while splatters of blood-like red dot the corners behind her.

It’s anyone’s guess where Swift will go with this latest persona, as she’s already introduced us to a schizophrenic variety of Taylor-worlds in the course of video-documenting her latest album, 1989 – including a wild dance party (“Shake it Off”), hazy dreamscape (“Style”), and pure crazy action (“Blank Space”).

Swift is poised to debut the video May 17 at the start of the 2015 Billboard Music Awards. It’s directed by Joseph Kahn, who also helmed her video for “Blank Space.”
