Are Taylor Swift's fans turning on her? Is it because of her private jet?

Mega pop star Taylor Swift has a problem with a guy.
This isn't unusual, of course, and is arguably the source for many of her Grammy-winning songs, her worldwide acclaim, her billionaire status, and her army of devoted fans. But this one didn't cheat on her or lie to her. He just tracked her private jet and told people about it.
In December Swift's attorney sent cease-and-desist letters to Jack Sweeney, a 21-year-old UCF student who has become known for his social media accounts tracking the comings and goings of the private jets of celebrities, billionaires, politicians and Russian oligarchs. He responded with a letter from his own attorney Monday, who said, "Put simply, there is nothing unlawful about GRNDCTRL's use of publicly accessible information to track private jets, including those by public figures like Taylor Swift."
Swift's fans, known as Swifties, are often quick to defend their "anti-hero" and come down hard on the artist's detractors. How are they responding to this?
As the saying goes, the answer might surprise you.
What are Swifties known for?
Taylor Swift's fans are known for many things, but one of the biggest things they're famous for is aggressively defending the pop star in the good, bad and ugly.
But now, her fans are divided. Some are saying that the drama surrounding Swift and her ethics is reminiscent of 2016, when Swift was canceled on Twitter following the release of Kanye West's hit song "Famous."
In the song, Kanye says "I feel like me and Taylor might still have s*x. Why? I made that b**ch famous." Swift's fans caused an uproar and Swift said she knew Kanye included her in the song but didn't consent for him to call her names or insinuate the two could be intimate.
This incident led to #TaylorSwiftisOverParty trending on X, then Twitter, during the summer of 2016. Swift took a stint of silence following the trending hashtag and released her response in the form of her "Reputation" album, which was released in November the next year.
Miss Americana is making waves on social media again. This time, it's a perfect storm of several things. Fans and haters of the singer alike are jumping on social media platforms to discuss her general behavior at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards recently and the cease and desist letter her team sent Sweeney accusing him of "stalking" by posting her private jet arrivals and departures.
It doesn't help that the pop star has received a hefty amount of backlash for her liberal use of the jet, firing it up to travel very short distances.
Some fans are defending Swift, calling Sweeney a stalker and asking if he'll take responsibility if she gets killed. Swift has been the target of multiple stalkers over the years, including one who was arrested three times in five days last month outside the artist's New York City home and another who was sentenced to 30 months in prison in 2020 after he pleaded guilty to stalking and sending her threats.
#Karma is alienating tens of thousands of females to the point they literally despise you. #Swifties and their mamas are loyal and fierce. Petty, vindictive stalker really isn’t a good look. Just because you *can* do something doesn’t mean you should. SMH.

Others are saying they still love her music but can't defend her character or ethics. And her haters are jumping into the conversation, calling for social media users to cancel Swift again.
Here's a quick timeline from @scandalousmedia on TikTok, explaining what behaviors Swift's fans and haters are zeroing in on:
Are Taylor Swift's fans turning on her?
Some fans are choosing to drop Swift altogether, some are separating the art from the person and others are aggressively defending her and calling out the "fake fans."
Here's a roundup of what TikTok is saying about all of the drama:

Of course the internet being what it is, Swift's jet-setting is the subject of many memes. So many.
