Couldn't get a ticket to the year's biggest concert tour? That's OK: Taylor Swift is coming to a movie theater near you this Friday.

The film version of Swift's record-breaking The Eras Tour opens Friday the 13th at movie theaters everywhere, including every single one in Southwest Florida.

Here's what you need to know.

What is 'Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Film'?

"Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Film" captures Swift's three-night tour stop at California's SoFi Stadium in August 2023, according to Billboard.

"The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far," Swift wrote on Instagram when announcing the movie. "And I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon."

Swifties are invited to gather on Oct. 13 at Bridgewater Commons for a Taylor-Gate Party to celebrate the much-anticipated release of "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" concert film.

The 168-minute movie was directed by Sam Wrench, the Grammy-nominated Emmy Award winner who's also directed concert films for Lizzo, Billie Eilish and Pentatonix.

The movie is rated PG-13. The release date ― Friday the 13th ― is a nod to Swift's famous lucky number, 13.

Why is Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour movie a big deal?

In case you haven't noticed, Swift is the biggest celebrity on the planet right now. Even USA Today plans to hire a full-time reporter to cover all T-Swift news.

Tickets to Swift's tour famously crashed Ticketmaster and sold out on in minutes. So this is a way for people who couldn't see Tay Tay live to experience her show anyway.

"The cultural phenomenon continues on the big screen!" Regal theaters says on its website. "Immerse yourself in this once-in-a-lifetime concert film experience with a breathtaking, cinematic view of the history-making tour."

The movie is already breaking box-office records.

"With a week until the movie graces the big screen, it has surpassed $100 million worldwide in advance ticket sales, according to its official distributor AMC Theatres," Variety reported last week. "These revenues encompass all showtimes, locations and circuits playing 'Eras Tour' across the globe, not just AMC locations."

The day tickets went on sale, AMC reported $26 million in revenue, according to Rolling Stone magazine. That broke the single-day sales record previously set by "Spider-Man: No Way Home" ($16.9 million).

"With this momentum, it’s poised to land one of the biggest debuts of the year," Variety reported.

What to wear to the Tayor Swift movie?

Swift, herself, has set expectations for what people can wear and do at the movie theater when they go to "The Eras Tour Film."

“Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged,” she wrote on Instagram. “What’s your friendship bracelet going to say?”

"Eras attire" includes lots of sparkles and sequins, outfits based on Swift's music video and concert costumes, cowboy hats and ― of course ― friendship bracelets.

Swift fans have been trading colorful, beaded friendship bracelets during the ongoing The Eras Tour. They often show off the bracelets on social media.

Swift encouraged fans to make the bracelets on her song "You're on Your Own, Kid" with this lyric: "So make the friendship bracelets/Take the moment and taste it/You've got no reason to be afraid."

Are theaters doing anything special for the Taylor Swift movie?

Many theaters are rolling out Swift-inspired deals and goodies for the film.

Regal, for example, is selling souvenir popcorn tub and cup combos for $19.89 each (again, a reference to the album "1989").

And AMC is giving away a free official Eras Tour mini poster. "Supplies are ample but will go fast!" the chain said on Facebook.
