Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce's Reported Met Gala Absence Leaves This Major Moment Off the Bucket List

Fans were hoping that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce would find a way to join the fashion elite at the Met Gala on Monday, May 6. However, as any true Swiftie knows, the 34-year-old singer has a very tight schedule with the European leg of her Eras Tour, kicking off on Thursday, May 9 in Paris, France — there isn’t any room for a red carpet moment that week.

The duo each received individual invites, according to TMZ, and both of them have declined the hot-ticket invitation this year. It’s obvious why Swift turned down the opportunity, but the outlet speculated that he didn’t want to go without his gal on his arm. The Met Gala has become one of the most prestigious social events in Manhattan each year, and it might have felt awkward for the NFL star to go alone — it was too big of a night to walk solo on the red carpet.

That brings up the big question for fans: When will Swift and Kelce make their red-carpet couple debut? The “thanK you aIMee” singer is booked and busy throughout the entire summer with her European leg wrapping up at Wembley Stadium on Aug. 20 in London. She has time off in September and October, just as Kelce kicks off his NFL season with the Kansas City Chiefs. She also has Canada tour dates in late November and early December, so it’s going to be a long time before they hit the red carpet together.

Swifties will have to settle for candid paparazzi shots when Kelce visits her in Europe, where he reportedly has some romantic Italy plans. “He booked some very nice hotels suites and tables at great restaurants to take her on days off,” a source shared with The U.S. Sun late last year. “He wants to take her on romantic getaways to have her relax and go discover those nice cities and European romantic places together.”

We love that the athlete has reportedly “booked tables and quick day trips to some food and wine tours, as he wants to take her to Italy’s rural side and spend time with her in the most gorgeous vineyards and beautiful countryside spots.” That’s a man who takes action for his girlfriend — she doesn’t have to think of anything because Kelce has taken care of it all!
