Taylor Swift has released her next Lover song. The track, “The Archer,” was produced by Jack Antonoff, who worked on several reputation songs, including “Look What You Made Me Do” and “New Year’s Day.” Listen below.
“The Archer” arrived in the middle of Swift’s Instagram live session today, in which she said that it’s the fifth track on Lover. She also explained her tradition of putting the most “honest, emotional, vulnerable, and personal” songs in that slot because her fans started to notice a pattern within her earlier albums. Referring to “The Archer,” she said, “That has definitely happened in the case of this album, Lover.” Elsewhere in the live session, she announced that Lover will arrive with four deluxe editions, featuring scans of her real life journals.
“You Need to Calm Down” is also up for other awards including Song of the Year and Best Direction. Swift’s “ME!,” featuring Brendon Urie of Panic! At the Disco, was nominated for Best Collaboration, Best Visual Effects, and Best Cinematography.
