Taylor Swift parties coming to Dewey, Ocean City's Seacrets to go Irie-Ish for big fest

Beach music venues are known for presenting an eclectic range of music, and that is on full display this winter. One of the biggest events this weekend will see throngs of fans coming together to celebrate their favorite pop mega-star — even though she won’t be in attendance.

Dewey Beach parties will be all about celebrating Taylor Swift

Tickets sold out well in advance for The Taylor Party, which will be held at the Rusty Rudder in Dewey Beach on Saturday, Feb. 10. The traveling DJ dance party pays homage to Swift, and attendees will certainly be adorned with friendship bracelets and colorful attire.

Due to the strong demand, The Taylor Party will return to Dewey at 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 31 — but that one will be held at the Rudder’s nearby sister business, the Bottle & Cork nightclub. Tickets are on sale now ($25).

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, for the Cork’s 88th Anniversary Party, which will again feature a reunion of former local rock favorite Mr. Greengenes. This year’s event will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16 ($55).

In Selbyville, the seasonal Freeman Arts Pavilion has offered the first sneak peak at one its outdoor concerts set for this summer. Michael Franti & Spearhead will return to the stage Wednesday, June 26, following opening sets by Embargo and Trevor Hall & the Great In-Between. The show kicks off early at 5:30 p.m., and ticketinformation will be unveiled at a later date.

Hot shows keep coming to Room at Cedar Grove

Elsewhere in Sussex County, a pair of sold-out dinner concerts are on tap at the Room at Cedar Grove, located west of Midway. The Sharon Sable Jazz Quartet will play to a capacity house Sunday, Feb. 11, while vocalist Bryan Clark will do the same when he croons classics from the Great American Songbook on Valentine’s Day (Wednesday, Feb. 14).

Tickets are still available, however, for a rock show set for next month. Guitarist Scott Tournet, who was a member of Grace Potter & the Nocturnals from 2003 to 2014, will bring his solo act to the stage at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 28 ($35 includes dinner).

Go Irie-Ish with big festival returning to Ocean City's Seacrets

In Ocean City, Seacrets has announced the lineup of its ninth annual Irie-ish Music Fest. It will kick off at noon on Saturday, March 16, with live music taking place all day and night on three stages.

Performers include the Jimi Milligan Band (noon), the Keltic Rock Warriors (1 p.m.), The Benderz (4:30 p.m.), Late Last Night (5:30 p.m.), My Hero Zero (9 p.m.) and Stealing Savannah (10 p.m.). Admission will be first come, first served at the door, with cover charges to be announced.

Seacrets is selling advance tickets, however, for The Amish Outlaws’ 20th Anniversary Show, which will be Friday, March 8. The rockers will celebrate their two decades together following an 8 p.m. set by reggae favorite Jah Works ($20).

In the more immediate future, The Amish Outlaws will play a sold-out show at coastal Delaware’s Milton Theatre on Thursday, Feb. 8. A “low-ticket alert” has been issued for the theater’s annual presentation of Love Stinks: A Valentine’s Comedy Show. It is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9, and will feature comedians Coleman Green, Keith Purnell and Chica Loca ($14).

A Fleetwood Mac tribute, and yes, Wayne Newton coming

The Milton Theatre has matinee and evening appearances by Fleetwood Macked: The Ultimate Tribute to Fleetwood Mac set for Saturday, Feb. 10, and they have both sold out in advance. The Wilmington Ballet Presents Deep Roots is set for 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11 as part of Black History Month ($25).

The Rehoboth Beach Convention Center has announced that Las Vegas crooning icon Wayne Newton will bring his “Up Close and Personal” tour to town Friday, March 1. Local opening act Dan Gaffney will warm up the crowd with his Mind Mysteries magic show at 7 p.m. ($65, $75).

The convention center also has tickets on sale for a host of concerts that will take place during the 35th annual Rehoboth Beach Autumn Jazz Festival, which runs Thursday through Sunday, Oct. 17-20.
