Taylor Swift Makes History Tying for the Most Billboard Music Awards of All Time: 'This Is Unreal'

Swift was nominated in 20 different categories and took home 10 awards at Sunday's BBMAs

Taylor Swift is feeling grateful.

At Sunday's Billboard Music Awards, the Midnights songstress, 33, and Drake made history by bringing their BBMA career wins up to 39 — making them tied for the most-awarded artist at the award show of all time. She reached the milestone by taking home 10 BBMAs, and shared an acceptance speech filmed backstage at the Eras Tour in Brazil to thank her fans for their support.

"Well, this is unreal," Swift said in the pre-recorded speech. "The fact that you guys have given me 10 Billboard Awards — I’m talking to the fans, specifically. None of this happens without you."

The "Anti-Hero" singer continued by showing even more love to her devoted Swifties. She said, "The Billboards base everything off of what you are listening to and what you’re passionate about, and I’m so honored that this year you made the tour, The Eras Tour, so magical. You went and saw the movie, you cared about my re-recordings. I just, like, I love you so much."

The Grammy winner concluded, "I feel like the luckiest person in the world to have you in my corner and caring about music that I make. Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you, 10 million times for this."

The "Karma" singer was the most-nominated artist at the award show, with nominations in 20 different categories. Coming only second to Morgan Wallen's 11 wins, she ended up taking home the prize in 10 categories, including top female artist, top Billboard 200 artist, top Hot 100 songwriter, top radio songs artist, top songs sales artist, top Billboard Global 200 artist, top Billboard global (excl. U.S.) artist, top country female artist and top selling song.

By winning in 10 categories, and Drizzy, 37, winning in five, the two A-listers both brought their tally of career wins up to 39.

Swift is currently on the South American leg of her Eras Tour, with her latest tour stop in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, this weekend. The hitmaker played shows Friday and Sunday at Estadio Nilton Santos, and ended up postponing her Saturday night performance to Monday due to extreme heat.

Last week, Swift flew back to New York City and was spotted stepping out with musician Gracie Abrams at Freemans Restaurant, after returning home from her weekend of shows in Argentina, where she was joined by beau Travis Kelce.

The singer-songwriter sent fans on a frenzy after her second show in Buenos Aires last week when she openly showed her affection for Kelce, 34.

The singer was seen running into Kelce’s arms backstage and planting him with a kiss after the show as they embraced and walked off together.

During her performance, Swift also referenced Kelce as she changed the lyrics to her song “Karma” to “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me.”

Kelce’s surprised reaction to the lyric change was captured in footage shared from the concert as he stood next to Swift’s dad, Scott Swift, in the VIP tent. The Kansas City Chiefs star — who flew in the day before to watch her show — was also seen blowing a kiss to Swift and dancing along to her songs in other clips posted from the concert.

In October, the "Lavender Haze" singer released 1989 (Taylor's Version) and the re-recorded album earned the singer her biggest Billboard 200 chart debut in her career.

When Swift dropped the re-recorded album, she wrote on Instagram, “I was born in 1989, reinvented for the first time in 2014, and a part of me was reclaimed in 2023 with the re-release of this album I love so dearly. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine the magic you would sprinkle on my life for so long.”

The pop star continued, “This moment is a reflection of the woods we've wandered through and all this love between us still glowing in the darkest dark. I present to you, with gratitude and wild wonder, my version of 1989. It's been waiting for you. Taylor.”
