Taylor Swift Just Got Her Flowers From This Music Icon & Even Swift Must Be Freaking Out

As the biggest pop star in the world right now, it’s safe to say most people would be starstruck to meet or just see Taylor Swift in person. And while that may be true, the singer has some idols herself that would leave her speechless.
Among them is singer, poet and artist Patti Smith, who Swift mentions in her new album The Tortured Poets Department. In the title song of the album, Swift sings “I laughed in your face and said / ‘You’re not Dylan Thomas / I’m not Patti Smith / This ain’t the Chelsea Hotel / We’re modern idiots.’”

Following Swift’s record-breaking release, Smith went to social media to show her appreciation. “This is saying I was moved to be mentioned in the company of the great Welsh poet Dylan Thomas,” Smith wrote on Instagram alongside two black-and-white pictures of her reading one of Thomas’ books. “Thank you, Taylor.”
Unfortunately for fans, the post, which has reached over 100,000 likes, has comments turned off. That way, Swift can’t even respond to the show of support.
But while Smith was mentioned in a good light by the “Love Story” singer, Swift spared no expense in shading other celebs in the new album, like ex Joe Alwyn and Kim Kardashian.
In the song “thanK you aIMee,” for example, Swift tells the story of a bully which fans are convinced is about the SKIMS founder. In addition to the capitalization of the name “Kim” in the title, fans found many Easter eggs directed at Kardashian, including one telling lyric. “I changed your name and any real defining clues,” she sings. “And one day, your kid comes home singin’ a song that only us two is gonna know is about you.”
After the diss, however, sources are reporting that Kardashian is brushing off this long-standing feud. “Kim probably does have regrets about lying about the editing of the now famous video, but it’s fair to say that she was caught up in the whole Kanye [West] aspect of it,” a source told Life & Style.
“She was basically protecting her man,” the source continued of the feud’s origin. “I’m sure Kim could clear up what really happened, and why she did what she did, but I don’t think she wants to revisit that particular situation,” they said. “It would just open up a whole new can of worms and she’s truly moved on.”
So while some may be negative and others positive, the many responses to Swift’s new album are finally in full swing!
