Ticket presales for the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film hit $26 million after the first day for AMC Theatres, setting a record for the highest ever single-day advance ticket sales revenue for the mega-exhibitor.

The previous record was $16.9 million in first-day ticket sales for Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021. Faced with heavy ticket demand, AMC has added showtimes for its theatrical run of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, which gets underway on Oct. 13.

Besides screening the concert film in its theatres, AMC is also the theatrical distributor, having lined up additional exhibitors in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Also showing the concert film in the U.S. is Cinemark and Regal Cinemas, while Cineplex will host Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour in Canada, and Cinepolis will do the same in Mexico.

AMC expects to unveil more exhibition partners in the coming weeks and has already announced every U.S. location will run at least four showtimes every day on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets for the theatrical event will be priced at $19.89 for adults and $13.13 for children, and AMC says it has shored up its ticket server capacity to handle traffic at more than five times the current record for most tickets sold in an hour.

Swift’s Eras Tour has become a cultural phenomenon. With record demand for tickets and smashed world records in attendance and concert tour revenue, Swift offers fans a 44-song setlist crossing the many eras and albums of the Midnights singer’s career.

Swift’s current tour kicked off in March of this year in Arizona before the show, which has attracted celeb guests, wound its way across the U.S. The elite fans who managed to grab tickets did so amid technical glitches by Ticketmaster that led to backlash against the retailer, which has received Congressional scrutiny.
