Taylor Swift Encourages Fans to 'Make a Plan to Vote' in U.S. Presidential Primary Election

Swift directed her Instagram followers to a voting registration website as many states (including her native Tennessee) approach the presidential primary

Don't forget to vote, Swifties.

As several states began voting in the 2024 United States presidential primary election on Tuesday, Taylor Swift posted to her Instagram Story and encouraged fans to come up with a plan to submit their ballots.

"Today, March 5, is the Presidential Primary in Tennessee and 16 other states and territories," wrote the pop superstar, 34, spotlighting her home state.

"I wanted to remind you guys to vote the people who most represent YOU into power. If you haven't already, make a plan to vote today," continued Swift.

"Whether you're in Tennessee or somewhere else in the US, check your polling places and times at vote.org," concluded the Grammy winner's post.

After opting not to voice her political opinions early in her career, Swift broke her silence in 2018 to condemn Marsha Blackburn, a Republican senator in Tennessee who was running and eventually won.

The "Karma" singer also spoke out on her own political and social views. "I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country," she said.

"I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG," added Swift at the time. "I believe that the systemic racism we still see in this country towards people of color is terrifying, sickening and prevalent."

About one month before the 2020 presidential election, she endorsed Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris.

"The change we need most is to elect a president who recognizes that people of color deserve to feel safe and represented, that women deserve the right to choose what happens to their bodies, and that the LGBTQIA+ community deserves to be acknowledged and included," Swift told V magazine at the time.

"Everyone deserves a government that takes global health risks seriously and puts the lives of its people first. The only way we can begin to make things better is to choose leaders who are willing to face these issues and find ways to work through them," added the Midnights musician.

Swift continued, "I will proudly vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in this year’s presidential election. Under their leadership, I believe America has a chance to start the healing process it so desperately needs."

The "Lavender Haze" artist is currently performing a six-show run in Singapore as part of her ongoing Eras Tour, the extended film version of which is set to become available to stream via Disney+ on March 14.

Additionally, Swift is gearing up to release her 11th original studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, on April 19.
