TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — If you’re a Taylor Swift fan, or a “Swiftie,” you may have been up at midnight for her highly anticipated album drop, “The Tortured Poets Department.”

In this era, Swift dropped a double album, comprised of 17 brand-new songs in what now is her 11th studio album.

Taylor Swift’s new album takes ‘tortured’ turn: What secrets do the lyrics reveal?

And the music giant has sent Floridians going wild with one of the songs, “Florida!!!” featuring the artist, Florence & The Machine, who sings the 2010 hit, “Dog Days Are Over.”

The chorus of “Florida!!!” mentions the state being “one hell of a drug” and references using it as an escape. Some lyrics mention the need to forget and the use of the “drug” that Florida is.

Swift also shouted out a city in the Panhandle: Destin. The beach town is mentioned twice in the song, once at the beginning and once at the end, in the lyric, “So you work your life away just to pay for a timeshare down in Destin.”

Taylor Swift adds 3 more tour stops in Florida

Ahead of the song’s release, many Swifties theorized that the three exclamation points following the word Florida symbolized her three stops to the Sunshine State during her Eras Tour in April 2023.

Fans also speculate that she split with her former boyfriend, British actor Joe Alwyn, during her stop in Tampa. But following her stop in Tampa, Swift spent her next three concerts in Houston.

This brings us to another lyric, “So pack your life away just to wait out the ****storm back in Texas,” which may hint at problems that arose during these stops on her tour.

And finally, in the song, “Fortnight,” featuring artist Post Malone, she mentions Florida towards the end of the song with the lyrics, “Move to Florida, buy the car you want.”

The new album is filled with slow, euphoric lyrics and beats which has given fans a look into her deepest feelings and heartbreak. Many argue this may be Swift’s most vulnerable album.

Fans flooded Taylor Swift’s post on X, formerly known as Twitter, with one writing, “It’s fascinating how emotions transform into art, and indeed, as you’ve beautifully expressed, tears become holy in the form of ink on a page.”

Another user said, “Taylor you have been so beautiful and so deep and so personal and I love so much that you trusted us with this. I hope this sets you free.”
