Correction: screaming!

While the rest of us were either a) attempting to panic-buy eclipse glasses, b) accidentally staring directly into the sun, or c) rolling our eyes at the phrase "path of totality," Taylor Alison Swift decided it would be a good time to drop some new lyrics.

Enter: three (3!!!) lines from a yet-to-be-determined song on The Tortured Poet's Department. Ahem:

"Crowd goes wild at her fingertips

Half moonshine,

Full eclipse"

I'll give you a minute to...

Now, what do these lyrics mean, you ask?

Truly couldn't tell you, but fans already have theories that range from speculation that it's a reference to her "golden" love suddenly turning dark amid a breakup...

...To the thought that the eclipse represents Tay herself—moonshine-happy for crowds, but eclipse-sad on the inside:

Oh, and there's also the more literal interpretation that Tay is singing about the power her fingertip holds, which based on the below video, makes total sense!

Meanwhile, there's also a not-at-all-casual link to the musician's fellow tortured poet Emily Dickinson, which is!!! considering they're low-key cousins.

Either way, we only have to wait a few more days until The Tortured Poets Department, and as of now, it seems as though Taylor will be dropping the entire album at once as opposed to track one at a time (that said...there are still 10 days, so things could definitely change).

While you're waiting, though, a reminder that Taylor curated Apple Music playlists based on the Five Stages of Grief—and wrote candidly about her own experiences with each one. Dive in below!
