Taylor Swift Adopted Her New Cat — Named Benjamin Button — Right Off the Set of Her 'ME!' Video

“And then there were three…”

Taylor Swift confirmed a fan theory on Friday morning, announcing that the adorable little feline featured in her new “ME!” video is in fact hers.

In a Friday Instagram Live with Panic! at the Disco’s Brendon Urie — who’s featured on the song and in the video — she told the story of how the kitten, named Benjamin Button, ended up coming home with her.

“He was just a cute kitten who didn’t have a home,” she explained, adding that he was part of a program that “tries to get cute kittens adopted by putting them in commercials and stuff.”

The handler asked Swift if she wanted to hold the cat before they shot their scene together. “She handed me this tiny cat and he just starts purring and … he looks at me like, ‘You’re my mom, and we’re going to live together.’ I fell in love. I looked at Brendon and he’s like, ‘You’re going to get the cat aren’t you?’ “

“It was truly love at first sight, love at first purr,” Urie added. “You did not stop. It was just adorable.”

“He literally looked at me like, ‘Adopt me please.’ And I was like, ‘Okay I’m going to do that,’ ” added Swift. “He’s just the best boy. He’s the best little guy.”

Benjamin Button joins the singer’s beloved felines, Olivia Benson and Meredith Grey, named for the Law & Order: SVU and Grey’s Anatomy characters played by Mariska Hargitay and Ellen Pompeo, respectively.

Swift has long shared her love for her cats with the world, frequently posting about them on Instagram and giving them a spot in the new “ME!” video, too. She even gave them a nod in her “Bad Blood” video, including Hargitay and Pompeo in her fierce fighting squad.

On Thursday, TIME shared a video of Swift talking about the most major influences in her life — and she counted her cats among them.

“I’m obsessed with them,” she said in the clip, part of her TIME 100 honoree package. “They’re just a real joy to live with.”

She loves them so much, in fact, that they inspired her to go for a role in the new live-action film version of Cats, which also stars James Corden, Judi Dench, Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, Ian McKellen and Rebel Wilson.

“When a role came up in a movie called Cats, I just thought, I’ve got to do this,” Swift added in the TIME clip. “This is my calling in life to do this for the ladies. So I went to cat school, which they have on set readily available for us. Learned how to be as much like a cat as I possibly could.”
