Taylor Swift concert film continues to ‘enchant’ fans as it tops the box office for the 2nd week in a row

Just when you think Taylor Swift can’t keep winning, her concert film continues to top the box office for the second weekend in a row since its release to theaters.

The Wall Street Journal reported that “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” out-earned the Martin Scorsese-directed film “Killers of the Flower Moon” at the domestic box office and also became the first concert film in history to gross over $100 million.

The nearly three-hourlong show earned $10.4 million during its second weekend in theaters, according to the New York Post.

Is the Eras Tour movie like a concert?

Lehigh Valley News reported that the movie gives the viewer an up-close vantage point of being with Swift on stage, making the film more of a “visual spectacle” and concert rather than a movie.

Even Swift’s ex-boyfriend, Taylor Lautner, was recorded doing a backflip at one of the screenings of the film, according to Mashable.

“By the night’s fourth song, the crowd — about 75 people, nearly all young girls and mom types (only five males in the entire audience) — was waving its arms as Swift did,” the Lehigh Valley News further reported on the audience experience.

The New York Post reported that “some fans told The Post that they are getting reprimanded by fellow Swifties and theater employees for singing and dancing while watching the movie.”

Swift shared a message with her fans prior to the movie’s release, saying, “I think you’ll see that you’re absolutely a main character in the film. Because it was your magic and your attention to detail and your sense of humor and the ways that you lean into what I’m doing...”

VJ Therence left a five-star review on Google of the “testament to Swift’s artistic evolution,” saying that the movie “is nothing short of a spectacular journey through the diverse musical chapters of one of the world’s most celebrated pop icons.”

Another Google reviewer by the name of Peter Petite gave five stars and wrote that though they would not classify themselves as a “Swiftie,” “the movie itself is beautiful in many ways, catching the energy, spectacle, and yet intimacy of this concert.”
