Taylor Swift braces for worst-case scenarios: 'I've had a lot of stalkers'

Taylor Swift had a sobering answer to a seemingly innocuous question about her home life.

In an interview with "CBS Sunday Morning," the "Lover" singer was asked how she splits her time between residences in Nashville, New York, Rhode Island and London.

"I try not to ever really say where I am, since all my addresses are on the internet," she said, referring to several recent cases of stalkers being arrested at or near her house as "dudes that think we have an imaginary marriage."

The pop star, 29, previously opened up in an essay for Elle about the fact that she carries army-grade bandage dressing "for gunshot or stab wounds." Speaking to CBS, she made it clear she regularly considers the worst-case scenario.

"I've had a lot of stalkers show up to the house armed. So we have to think that way," she added.

In the March essay, Swift also discussed how the Manchester Arena bombing after an Ariana Grande concert and Las Vegas country music festival shooting made her "completely terrified" to head out on tour.

"I didn't know how we were going to keep 3 million fans safe over seven months," she wrote. "There was a tremendous amount of planning, expense and effort put into keeping my fans safe. ... Every day, I try to remind myself of the good in the world, the love I’ve witnessed and the faith I have in humanity. We have to live bravely in order to truly feel alive, and that means not being ruled by our greatest fears."

Swift' seventh studio album, "Lover," unveiled Friday, largely tells the story of the pop star in love. But there's one song, written about a sick family member, that Swift told CBS she "cant even really hear or listen to."

"I don't think I have written a song quite like that before. It's just a tough one," Swift said. Though she hasn't explicitly confirmed who the song is about, she's previously been open about her mother's battle with cancer. Andrea Swift was diagnosed with cancer in 2015 and Taylor said in 2019 that it had returned.

"It's just not something that we deal with until we have to, until we see it, until someone close to us experiences something that. So writing that was really emotional and I'm just going to stop talking about it now," she said, tearing up.

What's next for Swift now that "Lover" is out? Slow down, there: The pop star gets stressed out thinking about the future more than six months in advance.

"That puts me into what I call, like, a panic spiral. I've never been able to do that. It just freaks me out, when I zoom out too far," she said, adding that she isn't "taking a single day for granted."

She concluded: "It's really ungrateful to assume you have 20 years. Just be stoked you have today."
