Ahead of its premiere on January 31, new details concerning Taylor Swift’s upcoming Netflix documentary, “Taylor Swift: Miss Americana,” reveal how the singer previously struggled with an eating disorder.

With her music career skyrocketing in her teenage years, it would seem as if Taylor wasn’t prepared for what was to come once she became a household name around the world. According to the former country star, she formed an unhealthy relationship with food.

In fact, things got even worse when unflattering paparazzi photos would be circulated online, subsequently making Swift very conscious about her appearance in the press.

In her documentary, she revealed: “It’s not good for me to see pictures of myself every day.”

What’s more, Taylor gushed on how seeing a photo of herself would instantly have her questioning whether she had gained weight and needed to slim down — it became mental torture for the star, who’s shedding light on the ordeal for the very first time.

“It’s only happened a few times, and I’m not in any way proud of it. A picture of me where I feel like I looked like my tummy was too big, or…someone said that I looked pregnant…and that’ll just trigger me to just starve a little bit — just stop eating.”

When “Taylor Swift: Miss Americana” premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on Thursday, critics were raving over how brutally honest the “Shake It Off” hitmaker came across throughout.

But struggling with an eating disorder was just one of many things she was left to deal with — all while continuing to dominate the charts and giving fans the impression that all was well behind closed doors.

Even in a recent interview with Variety, Taylor recalled the first time she saw herself on the cover of a magazine, with an accompanying headline that appeared to speculate whether she was pregnant.

Doc To Also Focus On Kanye West Feud

“I remember how, when I was 18, that was the first time I was on the cover of a magazine,” she said. "And the headline was like ‘Pregnant at 18?’ And it was because I had worn something that made my lower stomach look not flat. So, I just registered that as a punishment.”

Taylor Swift’s upcoming documentary will also shed light on her rivalry with Kanye West, explaining how her lengthy feud with the father-of-four played a drastic impact on her mental health.

The Moment That Changed Her Life

One particular moment that’s highlighted in the doc is Kanye’s rant at the 2009 Video Music Awards, which saw West infamously interrupt Taylor’s winning speech for Best Female Video, arguing that “Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time.”

Taylor and Kanye still aren’t on friendly terms with one another, and following the release of “Miss Americana,” it seems as if things will continue to remain that way.
