Why is everyone obsessed with Taylor Swift? Indiana University plans to dissect that question during its first academic conference on the phenomenon that is Taylor Swift in November.

"Taylor Swift: The Conference Era" will gather Swift fans and scholars to speak on topics relating to the star's successful career — specifically relating to the ongoing Eras Tour, according to a news release from the university issued Thursday.

The conference will take place Nov. 3-4 at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater near the Indiana University ‒ Bloomington campus from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. with adjacent events on campus Nov. 2 and 5.

The conference includes speakers who will reflect upon the icon’s cultural relevance and her influence on pop culture, the economy, gender, fandom, politics, music theory, history and more, according to the release. More than 1,000 attendees are said to have registered for the two-day conference so far, officials said.

The related festivities will kick off with Swift-themed events at IU Bloomington's First Thursday's festival, a festival to showcase the diversity of arts and humanities, on Nov. 2 at the Arts Plaza from 4-7 p.m., followed by a dance party at The Back Door at 9 p.m.

Events at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater are free but ticketed, and will have a limit of four tickets per person. Attendees must be 12 or older, according to the release.
