Makena Moore does not share Twilight star Taylor Lautner’s passion for acting, but the sister and brother still have a special bond.

Moore, who is six years younger than Lautner, has been instrumental in his life. She introduced him to his wife, Taylor Dome, after meeting her at a Nashville church, and today, Moore works on their podcast, The Squeeze.

Lautner’s sister is also happily married. She and her husband, Jacob Moore, had multiple wedding celebrations in 2020 and welcomed their son, Breckon, in 2022. The Scream Queens star is a loving uncle to his nephew and shares photos of the two hanging out on social media.

On National Sibling Day in  2019, Moore honored her brother with a sweet Instagram tribute.

“Tay, I love you tons,” she captioned a photo of herself showing off her engagement ring and posing next to Lautner. “You are seriously the best big brother in the world. I am so so thankful for how close we are & I know nothing will ever come in between us.”

Here's everything to know about Taylor Lautner’s sister, Makena Moore, and her relationship with the actor.

She was born in Michigan and grew up in California

The siblings are originally from Hudsonville in Grand Rapids, Michigan and moved to Santa Clarita, California, in 2003 for Lautner’s acting career, per MLive. There, Moore attended Valencia High School, where she played volleyball and organized TEDx talks.

Despite leaving the Midwest when they were children, Lautner and Moore still feel connected to their roots. In 2019, she shared a photo of them posing on a beach in Michigan. She joked in her caption, “but you can’t take the Michigan out of the kids..."

During her senior year of high school in 2016, Moore gave a TEDx talk titled “Unexpected.” She told the story of how she worked hard to become great at volleyball, only to face serious health challenges that forced her to quit the sport.

First, she tore her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), a ligament in the knee joint. After lots of rehabilitation and training through the pain, she was able to return to volleyball during her junior year of high school.

Soon after getting back on the court, though, Moore learned that she had developed a heart condition called supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), which made her heart race. She then had an ablation procedure and was told she could go back to playing volleyball within a week. Unfortunately, her nerves were damaged during the surgery, and she had to leave the sport for good.

When Moore had a second heart procedure in 2018, her brother was by her side. Lautner shared a photo on Instagram of himself kissing his sister’s forehead as she rested in her hospital bed at the Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles. In his caption, he called the procedure a “MASSIVE success.”

Lautner added, “Couldn’t possibly look up to this little/not so little girl any more. You are much braver than I @makenalautner.. Love you so.”

Afterward, he also shared an Instagram Story featuring his sister leaving the hospital and captioned it, “And she’s free."

The following year, Moore shared a picture of herself smiling in her hospital bed after the procedure and reflected on the difficult day.

“Life has its challenges, but the way you respond to those challenges is the real test,” she wrote. “I still to this day deal with it & as frustrating as it is, I know the journey that got me here & I’m forever grateful for it."

She is married to Jacob Moore

Moore met Jacob in her first college class at Belmont University in 2016, and the couple married on May 1, 2020, in an intimate wedding due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The celebration was attended by only their parents, their pastor and three friends. Although Lautner couldn't be there in person (the actor FaceTimed her), he still cheered her on in a different way.

“Nothing about our wedding day was what I pictured,” she wrote on Instagram after the nuptials. The influencer noted that her brother had flowers and a note “waiting for [her] when [she] woke up.” She added, “It may not have been what I pictured, but I can’t describe how sweet it was.”

The pair held a larger wedding in September of that same year, and she later posted a video of her and Jacob looking elated at the event. Moore captioned the Instagram photos, “If you asked me what my favorite part about our 2nd wedding was... it would easily be: being surrounded by our people.”

She is a mom

Moore and Jacob welcomed their son Breckon on Nov. 5, 2022. She announced the exciting news on Instagram with photos of the infant. "The most special day of our lives. You have completely stolen our hearts!" she captioned it.

By the new year, Moore revealed that Lautner and Dome had met Breckon. Fast forward to his first birthday, the family gathered to help the couple celebrate. The theme was “Breckon’s First Rodeo,” and the festivities included a bounce house and LED letters.

“Happy 1st Birthday to our little cowboy 🐴🤠🐮,” she shared alongside pictures of the special day. “you will always be my baby...”

For his part, Lautner enjoys having a nephew, as evidenced by snaps he posted of himself posing with his wife and his sister’s baby. “Honored to be your uncle 🥺❤️,” he wrote.

Lautner’s sister is a big fan of his famous ex-girlfriend, Taylor Swift. (The Twilight actor and the “Anti-Hero” singer dated briefly in 2009 and have remained friends since.)

In a June 2023 TikTok, Moore revealed she has personalized merchandise displayed in her home. “When someone comes over and asks why I still have my brothers ex-girlfriend’s signed CD framed and used as decor,” she wrote on top of a video of herself cringing and lip-syncing to the TikTok audio, “Leave me alone!”

That same summer, Moore attended one of Swift’s L.A. Eras Tour concerts and enjoyed the show with her husband, Lautner and his wife, who are also fans of the singer. In an Instagram dump, she shared photos of the group smiling in the audience alongside clips of Swift performing.

“Can’t seem to get away from people named Taylor 😜😜,” she quipped in her caption.

She also quoted Swift’s song, “Invisible String,” in an October 2020 wedding post, writing, “Hell was the journey, but it brought me heaven ✨."
