The Taste of Thayer showcases one of Providence's iconic streets. What to know

The Taste of Thayer is set for Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.  The street will be closed to traffic from Bowen to Angell to create a pedestrian-friendly event with food samples and retail discounts from participating businesses.

There will be live music at four locations, outdoor seating with picnic benches added to the streetscape and activities for kids.

Tickets cost $23 for adults, $15 for college and high school students and $7 for children aged 10 and under. Students must show a current student ID to secure the reduced price ticket. Purchase all tickets online at thayerstreetpvd.com.

There is free parking after 5 p.m. at two Brown University designated lots (No. 11 and No. 44).

A map of participating locations providing food samplings and special retail discounts will be provided at ticket pick-up. That is at a will-call location outside the Brown Bookstore on Thayer Street on the day of the event.
