Tarek El Moussa, is diving deep on his past struggles in a new book.

The HGTV star, real estate investor and house-flipping expert announced he'll release a very personal new book, FLIP YOUR LIFE: How to Find Opportunity in Distress—in Real Estate, Business, and Life, in February 2024.

In addition to sharing his business savvy, The Flipping El Moussas star, 42, will be elaborating on how and why his path to success wasn’t smooth sailing.

According to a press release, El Moussa battled an addiction to steroids after facing testicular and thyroid cancer. He also addresses his fraught relationship with alcohol and digs into his "very public" public divorce from fellow HGTV star Christina Hall, from whom he split in 2016.

He opens up about turning to alcohol after a promising future in baseball was spoiled by a shoulder injury early on — and later choosing to give it up and get back on a productive path.

El Moussa previously discussed his struggles with steroids on a 2018 episode of the Dr. Drew podcast, PEOPLE reported at the time.

“I thought it was from my testicular cancer so I went to this botox doctor and hormone clinic that my ex said to go check out. Next thing I know I’m shoving a needle on my a– and taking steroids, it was testosterone. It was awful,” he said. “I was on way too much testosterone, on top of that taking human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) injections every day because I was told to.”

In that same interview, the TV personality also mentioned that he had suffered a back injury and subsequently had to undergo surgery. The recovery required a wide range of medications.

“I got back surgery, and I went from 230 lbs. to 168 lbs. So I had the cancer and then I got the second cancer. And then four months after I recovered from the second cancer, I hurt my back. I lost 60 lbs., I was on Vicodin every day, my hormones are off, I’m on pain meds and narcotics and I’m filming and working. It’s wild. It was a horrifying experience,” El Moussa also revealed Dr. Drew Pinsky at the time.

El Moussa also will also go deep on his divorce from Hall — and what it was like continuing to film together after they parted ways.

In a statement shared with PEOPLE by a lawyer at the time, the two expressed that they were committed to remaining cordial and civil, for the sake of their kids and careers.

“During the process, we are committed to our kids and being the best parents we can be,” the statement said. “We will continue to work through this process civilly and cooperatively, and plan to continue our professional life together.”

Still, filming was tense at times. El Moussa lashed out at Hall on set in July 2021 during a heated disagreement. He later expressed he was "remorseful" about the situation.

Flip or Flop ended after 10 years in March 2022.  "I couldn't be more grateful for the last ten years with Flip Or Flop. The support from our fans, the network and the wild ride that it's been has been incredible," El Moussa told PEOPLE in a statement shortly after the announcement. "Even though the Flip Or Flop chapter is coming to a close, another exciting one is soon starting."

FLIP YOUR LIFE: How to Find Opportunity in Distress—in Real Estate, Business, and Life will hit bookstore shelves on Feb. 6, 2024.
