Famed NY Hip-Hop DJ Angie Martinez is reportedly set to undergo back surgery after suffering major injuries due to a "severe" car accident on Monday.

Martinez continued, "I'm recovering and will be for some time, but I am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to do that."

Her statement makes it clear that she is not going to let this tragedy ruin her life and she let fans know that she will make the best of her situation despite it being very serious.

She continued her statement, "Wanted you all to hear it from me first and know that although this is a difficult time, I am in the best spirits possible and determined to be back and better than ever soo! God bless and I deeply appreciate all love & prayers."

No other details of the accident have been released but fans and her Power 105.1 family have been sending love and keeping her in their prayers.

Angie Was Promoting Her New Show

Angie will need a lot of time to recover which is unfortunate timing because her TV series "Untold Stories of Hip-Hop" premiered just a few weeks ago on WeTV. Since the premiere, she has been doing a lot of press to promote her show.

Angie's interview with Cardi B recently made headlines because the "Money" rapper described her #MeToo moment. The rapper sat down with Martinez and detailed her experience being sexually assaulted during a magazine shoot. After the interview aired, Cardi lashed out at fans who claimed she made the whole story up.

Her Radio Legacy

Angie's afternoon radio show has consistently been ranked #1 with more young listeners than any other radio program in the country. She has earned the nickname of "The Voice of New York." She began working in radio at the age of 16 and quickly became the popular DJ Funkmaster Flex's protege. The radio host also had roles in several movies including the cult classic "Paid In Full."

Rest up and best wishes for your recovery, Angie.
