Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir will host the Olympic Closing Ceremony for NBC

Tara Lipinksi and Johnny Weir are the undisputed breakout stars of NBC’s Winter Olympics broadcast from PyeongChang, so it should come as no surprise that the network will lean on them during their coverage at the Closing Ceremony.

The former Olympians sat down with Mike Tirico on Wednesday night to discuss the upcoming ladies’ free skate, the final figure skating event of the Games, and made the announcement that they’ll stick around to help the network close out their nearly month-long coverage of the 2018 Games.

While they’re not as experienced as many of the broadcasters who’ve taken on the same duties in the past, Lipinski and Weir have managed to parlay their bold style, outspoken personalities and best friendship into a winning formula for NBC. Their behind-the-scenes Instagram videos, coordinated fashion choices and their “tell it like it is” brand of commentating have helped to bridge the gap between the more traditional Olympic viewing audience and the increasingly digital and social audience that is engaging with the Games in new ways.

The Closing Ceremony will be held at the PyeongChang Olympic Stadium, and will start at 6 a.m. ET.
