Lightning hilariously misspell custom jersey gifted to sheriff
I’ll cut the Tampa Bay Lightning a little bit of slack because the season just started, but I mean, this is a pretty bad mistake.
During the team’s game on Thursday, the team handed out its ‘Hero Award’ to ex-Pinellas County, Florida sheriff Jim Coats. Part of the award includes receiving a custom Bolts jersey.
But, there was one little problem with the sweater he received.

The team misspelt ‘sheriff,’ instead spelling it as ‘sherriff.’
Coats’ smile, err, Coats’ teeth-clenching grin tells you exactly how he probably felt about the spelling error.
Here’s hoping that the hockey club sent him home with a fresh grammatically correct and mistake-free uniform.
According to the Lightning’s website, Coats received the award for his efforts in raising money for at-risk youth, and founding ‘Safe Harbor,’ an organization focused on giving non-violent criminals a second chance at life. He also served as Pinellas County Sheriff for seven years.
