Tamera Mowry-Housley’s Niece Among Victims of Thousand Oaks Shooting
The niece of actress Tamera Mowry-Housley and former baseball player and Fox News correspondent Adam Housley was among the victims of the Wednesday night shooting at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, California.
“Our hearts are broken,” the couple said in a statement via their representatives. “We just learned that our niece Alaina was one of the victims of last night’s shooting at Borderline bar in Thousand Oaks. Alaina was an incredible young woman with so much life ahead of her and we are devastated that her life was cut short in this manner. We thank everyone for your prayers and ask for privacy at this time.”
Earlier on Thursday, Mowry-Housley and Housley were searching for their niece, who was, at the time, missing. The former “Sister, Sister” star was in communication with a young woman named Ashley, who identified herself as a suite mate of Alaina’s. Ashley had posted several images on Twitter saying that Alaina was still missing. Mowry-Housley had exchanged several messages with Ashley asking for updates.

Mowry-Housley first reached out to the woman Ashley online saying that she was Alaina’s aunt. They exchanged several messages, including that they did not know which hospital where she could be located, but that all the other girls in their party were accounted for.
Earlier this morning, Adam Housley asked people following the shooting to “please pray if you believe” for his niece, “a beautiful soul.”

Andrea Castillo, a reporter with The Los Angeles Times, tweeted a thread from the Los Robles Regional Medical Center, where she said she saw Housley looking for his niece. According to Castillo, Housley shared the description from two of Alaina’s suite mates who said that they fled the scene after believing to have heard the gunmen telling them to get down on the ground. Housley also said that Alaina’s Apple Watch and iPhone still showed her location on the dance floor of the Borderline Bar & Grill.

Housley said two of Alaina’s suite mates jumped through a broken window to escape and are at a hospital with major glass wounds. As they ran away from the bar, someone screamed “Hey! Get the [sic] down on the ground!” They told Housley they believe it was the gunman.

At least 12 people were killed in the shooting. The suspect, who also died, has been named as 28-year-old former Marine Ian David Long, Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean said in a news conference early Thursday morning.
