Tamar Braxton and Jeremy “JR” Robinson aren’t afraid to share their love story with the world.

The couple met on Peacock’s dating show Queen’s Court and got engaged on the season finale in March 2023. Though Braxton and Robinson split just seven months later, they have since rekindled their relationship and got engaged for a second time in December 2023.

In March 2023, the “Love and War” singer celebrated her 46th birthday by posting a video of Robinson giving a toast where he praised her for being “an amazing woman.”

"It's my birthday, but I have to post the one who puts this cheesy smile on my face," Braxton wrote in the caption. "It took me a while to realize that this wholesome, traditional love is the kind that I wanted and needed … We are blessed And drama free. Thank God for my best friend, life partner and fiancé @rarebreednola the happiest birthday to me ever my ❤️.”

So, who is Tamar Braxton’s fiancé? Here’s everything to know about JR Robinson and his relationship with the singer.

He grew up in New Orleans

Robinson has been open about his difficult upbringing in New Orleans before he chose to join the Marine Corps. Speaking with Shoutout Atlanta in August 2021, he shared why he feels his childhood experiences allowed him to find success later in life.

“The most important factor behind my success is my ability to succeed against insurmountable obstacles,” Robinson said. “My grit, determination and drive is second to none. I was raised in New Orleans under the care of a heroin addict single mother. By age 16, I had two gold teeth, two felonies and ultimately obtained my GED in juvenile jail. I joined the Marine Corps and turned my life around.”

He added, “I served in combat in Iraq and was awarded an AirStrike Flight medal after surviving a rocket propelled grenade attack. Similarly, life has thrown incredible obstacles at me and not only have I survived but I have come out victorious.”

He’s a lawyer

Robinson is a criminal defense and personal injury attorney. He received his bachelor’s degree from Auburn University before enrolling at the John Marshall Law School in Atlanta, per The JR Law Group website. After interning at the Dawson County District Attorney’s office in Georgia, Robinson founded his own law firm, The JR Law Group.

During his interview with Shoutout Atlanta, Robinson said that his difficult childhood and determination to succeed have made him a better lawyer.

“I don’t stop until I provide my clients with solutions and make sure that they get the desired outcome that they deserve,” he said. “I succeed because I can relate.”

Robinson met Braxton while starring on Peacock’s dating show Queen’s Court, which premiered in 2023. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in March 2023, the singer said she had “looked high and low” for love and felt she needed to “trust the process” of the show.

After meeting during the first episode, the couple ultimately bonded over losing loved ones: both Braxton's older sister Traci and Robinson's mother died from cancer. By the end of the season, Braxton expressed that she felt understood by the lawyer.

"I knew I was different than my siblings," Braxton told Robinson in the finale episode. "I prayed for somebody to understand me and not look at me and my flaws and just accept me for who I am. And then I met you. And then I saw every single [thing] that I ever prayed for as a child."

They got engaged during the finale of Queen's Court

Braxton and Robinson got engaged on the March 2023 season finale of Queen’s Court. In the episode, the “Love and War” singer explained to Robinson that while she was looking for love on the show, she actually “needed a friend,” and he’d been that for her. Robinson responded with a heartfelt proposal, telling Braxton he was “ready” for a big commitment and wanted to be her husband.

"Tamar, I'm here forever because I don't see my life without you," the attorney said. "I love you, Tamar. Tamar, will you marry me?"

Braxton tearfully nodded “yes” before jokingly telling her fiancé he now had “to tell my son and my baby daddies.”

They split in October 2023 before getting re-engaged

In October 2023, Robinson and Braxton called off their engagement. The lawyer revealed the news to fans on Instagram Stories.

"So many questions. So many assumptions. I want to answer all that I can with respect,” Robinson wrote. “Yes, Tamar and I are no longer together. I ended the relationship to focus on getting back to positive energy & being a better person. What happened and why - that's our private place.”

Two months later, the pair rekindled their relationship. In a lengthy post on Instagram, Robinson said that he “had to fight hard to push past the hurt” and was “committed to loving this woman forever.”

On Christmas Day, Braxton and Robinson got engaged for the second time. The singer shared two videos of the proposal on Instagram, explaining the pair’s change of heart.

"3 months ago we thought we HATED each other and we were completely OVER🫠," Braxton wrote in the caption. "Here we are after a simple football game box you got for your birthday and one REAL HARD conversation … we knew that whatever happened in the past was just that and ANYTHING other than US and our family only mattered."

She added, “@rarebreednola I love you with my entire heart and from now on our troubles are miles away🙏🏼📍✨….I’m having myself a Merry little Christmas now❤️✨.”

The couple are a blended family of eight. Braxton has a son, Logan Herbert, with ex-husband Vincent Herbert, and Robinson has five children from four previous relationships.

Before meeting Robinson on Queen’s Court, Braxton opened up on The Jennifer Hudson Show about how her son felt about her dating.

“I think ultimately, our kids want to see us happy, and I definitely want to have a husband and I hope that he has kids, so we can have a blended family," she told host Jennifer Hudson. "I think that he's attracted to that as well."

The pair have made it a point to spend quality time with each other’s children, including taking a trip to Universal Studios in April 2023.

In her birthday post from March 2023, Braxton gave a special shout-out to her and Robinson’s six children, writing that they “mean EVERYTHING to me. Thank God for them.”

They have a YouTube channel

In June 2023, Braxton and Robinson launched a joint YouTube Channel called All Things Black & White With Tamar & JR. In the pair’s first video, Braxton said they started the channel to give fans a “sneak peek at what’s going on with our lives.” The couple have since posted videos that range from Q&As to birthday vlogs.
