Tamar Braxton Returns to ‘The Real’ Post-Surgery

Tamar Braxton returned to her seat as co-host of The Real on Wednesday. Her emotional return comes just a few weeks after having surgery related to a pulmonary embolism that caused her to take time away from the show and withdraw from Dancing with Stars last month.

Braxton was ultimately diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome, which caused muscles around her ribs to enlarge, restricting blood flow and forming blood clots. She had surgery to remove a rib and relieve the pressure. “I didn’t really know I was sick, but I’m definitely on the mend, so days are really tough,” Braxton said about her recovery.

She invited her family and doctors onto the show to thank them, and she had a message for her fans and fellow co-hosts as well: “I am feeling great — thank you guys for your prayers and your thoughts. And thank you girls for never forgetting me and welcoming me back with open arms. I am just so thankful to be here.”

Watch Braxton brave it out and try performing while ill on Dancing with the Stars.
