Every Jaw-Dropping Moment From the ‘Handmaid’s Tale’ Season Finale
We’re getting near the end of The Handmaid’s Tale season 4, and oh my GOD, is there a lot to unpack. Just when you think the show can’t throw you any more curveballs, IT CAN. Season 3 left us on a major cliff-hanger with June getting shot after she managed to get a plane full of 80-something children and a few Marthas out of Gilead, so the newest season really started off with a bang. Whether you have seen the new episodes and want a review of everything you just witnessed or you haven’t seen them yet and are just in search of spoilers (hey, no judgment here), here’s every key moment from the episodes of this new season.
Season 4, Episode 1: “Pigs”
June and the Handmaids hide out at a farm.
Post airplane full of kids and June getting shot, she and the other Handmaids are trying to hide out safely. They eventually get to a farm where they can pretend to be Marthas working the fields while they figure out their next move. The Wife who lives there, Mrs. Keyes, is a young teenager who just so happens to be a June superfan. She asks June a million questions about what the plan is and seems super eager to dive in: “I want to hurt them so badly—Gilead, the men.” And while all this is going down, June is trying to recover from her gunshot wound, having to use things like homemade penicillin and oils.
The Waterfords find out about the plane full of children.
Up in Canada, the Waterfords, who are being held in custody, are informed of the plane carrying roughly 80 Gilead children that landed in Toronto. Fred cautions that if they don’t return the kids to Gilead, it could start a war.
Aunt Lydia faces the Commanders and is stripped of her duties.
Since it’s a group of her Handmaids who were responsible for getting the children out, Aunt Lydia has to face the music and is brought before a panel of Commanders, who inform her that her services as an active Aunt will no longer be required. Poor Lydia…JK!
Commander Lawrence is seemingly sentenced to death.
Lawrence is being held and gets a visit from Nick, where he repeatedly thanks him for his “service to Gilead” after a trial was held (without Lawrence even being present), where it was implied he was found guilty. He also questions Nick’s plans to invade Canada and encourages him to take a diplomatic route.
The young Mrs. Keyes opens up about being raped.
After losing it at dinner a bit and forcing Janine to eat the pig she had befriended, June lays into the young Mrs. Keyes about her treatment of these women who had already experienced enough trauma. Then, in a heartbreaking scene, Mrs. Keyes opens up to June about how her Commander husband would bring in other men to let them have sex with his underage Wife, saying, “Wives have bad things too.” If you haven’t already watched this scene, then have some tissues ready.
Nick gets Lawrence out of jail.
Just when it seems like Lawrence is being brought to his death, Nick takes him to a room to get a shave and tells him he’s been enlisted as a consultant on Gilead’s military response to Canada keeping the children.
Mrs. Keyes kills Guardian Pogue.
The young mistress has Guardian Pogue apprehended for coming onto their property, and she soon reveals that Pogue, aka Johnny, was one of the men who raped her. They string him up in the barn, where June has a mini Gilead-esque trial of sorts and lays out his crimes of treason against the United States and repeatedly raping a child, then sentences him to death. She leaves Mrs. Keyes to take care of it and is all “good girl” and “make me proud,” which, TBH, was way too Aunt Lydia–ish for my liking.
Season 4, Episode 2: “Nightshade”
Guardians show up at the farm looking for Pogue.
Of course, when a Guardian goes missing, the other Guardians are going to try to find the missing guy. So they come to the farm asking to speak to the Marthas. Mrs. Keyes lies and says they’re all out hard at work, so the Guardians say they’ll come back later. June tells her the fact that they’re coming back means she has to leave, so she and the other Handmaids start planning where they’re going to go.
Serena considers turning on Fred.
Her team advises her that the best approach is to show she was a victim of Fred’s, but Serena isn’t totally comfortable with that, saying she wasn’t abused “exactly,” whatever the heck that means.
Mrs. Keyes asks to leave with June.
This poor girl has been through so much terrible crap that she begs June to take her with her while they’re planning their exit. June also finds out in this scene that Mrs. Keyes has been poisoning her disgusting husband and asks her to show her how to make the poison.
Not all the Gilead kids are happy to be in Canada.
Moira, who’s been working to reunite Gilead kids with their real families, goes to the home of one of the recently rescued kids and finds out that he is less than happy to be there. He says he misses his home, his (adoptive Gilead) parents, and his Martha. Moira eventually gets Rita to go over to the kid’s house and spend time with him and make him some Gilead food so that he feels more at home.
June wreaks havoc at Jezebel’s.
With the poison in hand, June heads over to Jezebel’s and gets the women there to serve up deadly drinks to all the men in the club, carrying out what we can only assume is a mass murder.
Serena is pregnant!!
The impossible became freakin’ possible, because Serena Joy is pregnant! While she’s being held in Toronto, she has to do a health exam. They tested her, and turns out she has a bun in the oven. She gets to hear the news from Tuello (aka the man who arrested her), which isn’t the most conventional way to find out you’re having a baby.
June gets captured AGAIN.
For what seems like the zillionth time, June gets recaptured by Gilead forces, but this time, Nick is there to apprehend her. She gets back to the farm after her trip to Jezebel’s to find that it’s been totally surrounded by Gilead troops. Nick tells her that he’s trying to keep her alive and she comes with him.
Season 4, Episode 3: “The Crossing”
June is tortured for information.
June gets berated by Aunt Lydia for taking all the children, but that’s nothing compared to the literal torture the creepy Lieutenant inflicts on her by strapping her down on a table and waterboarding her.
June calls out Aunt Lydia and she can’t handle it.
In a scene that ALMOST makes you think Aunt Lydia might have actual human feelings, June tells her that she failed at protecting the girls, letting them get raped and beaten, and she even tells her that her fave girl Janine turned on her “in a fucking second.” Lydia loses it, screaming at June to “shut your mouth.” This lady is the definition of someone who is able to dish it out but can’t take it.
The creepy Lieutenant kills two Marthas.
In another attempt to get June to give up the missing Handmaids’ location, the Lieutenant threatens to push two Marthas off the roof. One bravely tells her not to say a thing (which gets her immediately sent to her death), while the other, much younger Martha seems terrified but eventually comes around to the idea that she’s going to have to die to save the Handmaids, and she too gets pushed off. And when that whole stunt doesn’t work at getting June to talk, she’s shoved into a tiny box and kept there.
June finds out just how many Commanders she killed with her poisoning.
While sharing a meal with Commander Lawrence, he tells June that six commanders are dead and another nine are in the hospital after some “bad liquor” was served up at Jezebel’s. He doesn’t say it but seems to imply that he knows June had something to do with it.
Hannah’s safety is threatened.
June’s daughter Hannah is brought in to be dangled in front of her, with some threats that Hannah will be hurt if June doesn’t say where the Handmaids went. It’s a totally heartbreaking scene because Hannah doesn’t seem to recognize her own mom and seems pretty scared of her. With Hannah being the one thing June still cares about, she gives up the Handmaids’ location and they get captured.
There’s an even more effed-up new kind of colony.
Lydia tells June that all the offending Handmaids are being sent to a new place called a Magdalene Colony, which is essentially a breeding colony where the Handmaids will have to work all day and then be visited by their Commander and his Wife when it’s time to perform the ceremony.
June and the girls escape (again!).
The Handmaids, en route to the colony, attack Lydia inside the transport van and all get out. But some of them are shot while running away. And sadly, June’s buddies Alma and Brianna don’t make it across the train tracks in time and get hit by the oncoming train. Only June and Janine make it across safely and are on the run once again.
Season 4, Episode 5: “Milk”
June and Janine catch a train to Chicago.
After making it away from Aunt Lydia and the transport driver, June tells Janine they’re going to follow the train tracks and head west. They stumble upon a parked train that’s heading to Chicago, which June says she heard is still a war front. They sneak their way onto one of the cargo containers and hop down in through the roof hatch, only to find the car is full of cold milk. But June manages to find a drain plug and turns the car lactose-free.
Rita pays Serena a visit.
Serena asks Rita to come see her, and after much deliberation, Rita agrees. When she does go, Rita still weirdly calls Serena “Ma’am” (??). Serena shows Rita the sonogram of her baby and she quickly finds out Fred has zero clue he’s about to be a father. Serena also grossly assumes Rita will help her take care of the baby, saying, “It’s nice to have a friend,” as if she hadn’t held Rita as a slave for years.
We get Janine’s backstory.
In some flashback scenes, we find out that Janine, after having her first baby, got pregnant again. While seeking out an abortion, she accidentally ends up at a scary pro-birth clinic that tries to guilt her into having the baby. She eventually makes it to an actual compassionate doctor, who gets her the abortion medication she wants.
Serena wants Rita to speak in her defense.
As if assuming she would take care of her baby wasn’t enough, Serena then surprises Rita with a request to defend her to the International Criminal Court. She wants Rita to tell them that everything she did was under duress from Fred. It’s at this point that a very disturbed-looking Rita explains to Mark Tuello that in Gilead, she was officially considered property of the Waterfords and was registered to them as if she was a car.
Rita visits Fred and gives him a big surprise.
After everything she just went through, Rita is not here to play. She shows up for a meeting with Fred, and after reminding him that they aren’t friends, she says she doesn’t want to be in the middle of the hot mess he and Serena have created and hands over the sonogram, saying, “You deal with your family.” Fred tells Rita he was “never cruel” to her, as if that makes up for imprisoning her in his home? OKAY, FRED.
The Chicago train gets attacked.
While riding it out in the milk fridge container, June and Janine realize they’re under attack, and as June points out, if the people out there are attacking a Gilead train, they could be potential allies for them. So she and Janine climb out of the car to meet the attackers. After a bit of back-and-forth, they agree to let the two Handmaids come with them to their hideout.
They have to secure their safety with sex.
Once June and Janine get to the hideout, the head honcho of the whole operation goes from acting totally shocked that they were forced to be sex slaves to demanding one of them sleep with him in exchange for being allowed to stay there. At first, June agrees, but she can’t go through with it so Janine does it instead.
Season 4, Episode 5: “Chicago”
June asks to help with trading supplies.
The camp June and Janine are hiding out with are gearing up to trade with another camp and June asks to go. At first she’s told no, but then she and Janine are allowed to tag along. After a close call with some Gilead officers, they make it to the swap location. June and Janine trade in their old Handmaid robes for a Chicago Cubs hat that Janine wants to give her new boo, Steven (aka the creepy dude who demanded that one of them sleep with him…who Janine seems to actually like now).
Aunt Lydia is real sad because she has no girls to control.
Everyone’s least favorite Aunt tries to tell her higher-ups that she’s ready to get back in the field. But she’s very quickly told that the girls are no longer her concern, which she doesn’t seem too happy about ’cause she goes back to furiously power-walking on the treadmill.
Lawrence pitches an idea to the Commanders.
Lawrence makes a play to call off some of the military attacks that Gilead is carrying out against the rebels and says they should send in humanitarian aid to hopefully get some of the economic sanctions against Gilead lifted. After being reminded that it was his Handmaid who got all of those Gilead children out, the Commanders vote against his proposal.
Sneaky Lydia finds a way to get reinstated.
Aunt Lydia meets with Lawrence and immediately starts blackmailing him with info about his involvement in Commander Winslow’s disappearance and his collaboration with June. Lawrence says the only way he can help her get reinstated is if she gives him all the dirt she has on the other Commanders so that he can get himself back to his previous status. Lydia agrees to it, on the condition that if June is caught, she is given to her directly to handle.
Nick tries to get info from the Marthas about June.
Nick confronts two Marthas to try to get some info about June. Although one of them advises him to stay far away from June, the other tips him off that two Handmaids were seen heading into Chicago.
June wants to find the rebels, but Janine wants to stay.
June is all about the fight, so obvi she wants to find the rebels. But Janine, on the other hand, wants to stay at the camp and try to have a normal life. And in a very sweet moment, Janine gives June the Cubs hat they traded their robes for.
JK! Janine is coming with June.
June gets spooked while walking down the road and ducks under an overturned car. Turns out the footsteps she was hearing were just Janine’s, who has decided she wants to come with June instead.
Lawrence uses his newfound blackmail to get what he wants.
He is back on the council and has convinced the other Commanders to pull their forces out of Chicago. Except there’s one little problem: Nick then gets put in charge of coordinating a bombing of Chicago just before the ceasefire deadline, which is extra bad since he knows June is likely there.
Chicago gets bombed.
In an eerie scene, June and Janine realize the Gilead soldiers have left their stations in a hurry, which June rightly assumes means something is very, very wrong. Planes start flying in overhead and let out a barrage of bombs.
Moira finds June.
In what may be the best few seconds in the entire series (yeah, I said what I said), June wakes up after the bombing only to see Moira coming through the smoke. Moira looks utterly shocked, like she can’t believe what she’s seeing. And if this ends up being some sort of concussed dream sequence, then let me tell you there will be riots!
Season 4, Episode 6: “Vows”
Moira tries to help June.
It’s not some hallucination. Moira really is in Chicago on a humanitarian mission, and she’s trying to get June help. She brings June to the medical tent so she can get treated and they can look for Janine.
But the humanitarian mission is packing up.
They’re hauling ass out of Gilead and Moira’s girlfriend, Oona, tells her they can’t bring June with them. Obviously, Moria isn’t going to accept that answer, so she hides June and begs her to sneak onto the boat that’s heading back to Canada. She finally gets through to June and they run onto the boat, where June hides inside as they peel out of Gilead.
Turns out, Moira didn’t trust Luke at first.
In a flashback, we see Moira telling June she shouldn’t marry Luke because he cheated on his first wife when she couldn’t have a kid. June of course defends him, saying that wasn’t their only issue and their marriage wouldn’t be like that.
Moira has to fess up to sneaking June on the boat.
After she hears there’s going to be a port inspection, Moira tells Oona that June’s onboard. The whole crew has a big debate about whether to hide her or turn her in. Eventually, June speaks up and tells them to just turn her in and she’ll say she got on the boat herself. But as soon as the Gilead boats start pulling up, Oona changes her mind and says to get June a fake ID and volunteer vest.
June gets questioned by the Gilead officers.
In one of the most tense moments of the episode, June, who is still a little dazed and confused from, you know, almost getting blown up, gets questioned by the Gilead officers. Thankfully, when she’s struggling to respond to them, Moira intervenes and tells them June (aka Rachel Smith, according to her fake ID) got hit in the head and is a little out of it and the officers let her go.
Moira gets dumped.
Oona is understandably a little pissed off after Moira’s stunt and ends things with her over it, telling her this is almost definitely the last humanitarian mission they’ll be allowed to do after smuggling June out.
June tries to go back.
In a moment of panic, June tries to take one of the lifeboats to go back to Gilead and get Hannah. She tells Moira about what happened when they showed Hannah to her and Hannah didn’t recognize her own mom. She also starts saying that Luke will never forgive her for what has happened to Hannah, which Moira tells her is crazy Gilead talk.
June FINALLY gets to Canada.
After what seems like forever, June is finally, officially free from Gilead’s grasp and makes it to Canada. Luke comes onto the boat and sees her for the first time in years and it’s VERY emotional. The very first thing June does is apologize for not being able to bring Hannah, and Luke cuts her off, embraces her in a big hug, and leads her off the boat.
Season 4, Episode 7: “Home”
June gets asylum in Canada.
After stepping off the boat, June officially seeks asylum in Canada and is taken to the swanky Fairmont hotel in downtown Toronto to rest. June is still in shock and things between her and Luke are a bit awkward, but he’s trying his best, okay??? She finally gets to take a relaxing shower (no more of those weird baths at the Waterfords’ house) and then she hits the hay and passes the hell out for 17 hours straight.
Luke and June talk things out.
Luke once again reassures June that apologizing for not being able to get Hannah out is crazy and that he actually blames himself for not being able to get both of them out. She tells Luke about the time she was allowed to see Hannah at the lake house and how she told Hannah how much her parents love her.
June sees Nichole again.
After so long apart, June is FINALLY reunited with her baby girl Nichole (and Emily too!). She tells Nichole that she and her “first” daddy love her so much.
Serena finally visits her baby daddy.
After ignoring him and deciding to raise the baby on her own, Serena finally goes to see Fred. They get into the details about what June being here could mean for their legal case and Fred convinces her that they need to team up to fight against her.
The grocery store is too much stimulation for June.
While trying to do normal things again, June heads to the grocery store with Moira and Luke, but a bottled water stand with a pair of wings that reminds her of Gilead sets her off and brings back an overwhelming rush of terrible memories.
Rita and Emily come for dinner.
While having dinner, June, Moira, Rita, and Emily have a conversation about what happened to them and whether they feel they deserve to be in Canada. And then Rita drops the bomb that she went to visit Serena and that she’s pregnant. June looks HELLA disturbed (and rightly so) and then simply says, “Well, fuck her. I don’t care.”
Oona pays Moira a visit.
Oona tells Moira that thankfully not all hope is lost for their humanitarian organization thanks to how much of an intelligence asset June is, and then Moira convinces her to not give up entirely on their relationship.
June confronts Serena.
In maybe the best exchange on the show ever, Serena says that the Lord brought June to her so that she could make amends, to which June replies, “I brought myself here to tell you how much I hate you.” She rightly reams Serena out for all the horrible stuff she’s done to everyone and tells her she’s not worthy of any form of redemption.
June rapes Luke.
After screaming at Serena, June goes home and starts to have sex with Luke. It doesn’t take long for him to object. He tries to tell her to wait, but June covers his mouth and keeps on going.
Serena goes crawling back to Fred.
As June is giving her statement to Tuello, perfectly outlining what a garbage human being Serena is, Serena goes crawling back to Fred, telling him she needs him, aka trying to save her own ass.
Season 4, Episode 8: “Testimony”
A ghost from Emily’s past shows up.
At their support meeting, a woman walks in wanting to talk to Emily, but Emily is super upset at the sight of her and wants the woman to go away. She won’t tell June and Moira who she is, but June being June, she can’t let it go and starts questioning Emily on it at dinner. Emily reveals the woman is an Aunt from Gilead.
Serena reads Moira’s testimony.
Out loud. To Fred. And it’s…gross. Fred, of course, says she’s a liar. Serena then gives him some advice on how to come off better in court, to which Fred says she should make an appearance by his side in her Gilead teal.
Aunt Lydia is back on her BS.
Lydia starts yelling at a group of Handmaids for not scrubbing floors properly, and then she hears two Aunts giggling about her. In a fit of rage, she decides to tase one of the Handmaids, and when one of the Aunts tries to stop her, she tases her too.
June gives her testimony.
June FINALLY gets to tell her side of the Waterfords’ terrible story. She gets into all the dark details and asks that the Waterfords get the maximum possible sentence. The Waterfords’ lawyer, though, gets to ask a few questions and really lays into June. She even tries to make it seem like June chose to become a Handmaid and agreed to everything.
Janine is alive!!
Lawrence has a meeting with Lydia about her behavior and tells her people don’t like her, and the fact that she looked surprised is maybe the funniest part of this show. But he also says she’s not being fired for tasing the two women, which, knowing Lawrence, means he probably has an ulterior motive for continually keeping her around. He then drops the bomb that Janine is alive and tells Lydia to “do with her what you will.”
June brings Aunt Irene to the support group.
It’s a bit of an ambush, but the group eventually votes to let her stay. Aunt Irene tries to explain her side of the story and apologize for what she did to Emily—ratting her out for having a girlfriend in Gilead, which lead to Emily’s mutilation (and the girlfriend’s death). She begs for Emily’s forgiveness but Emily tells her there’s nothing she can do to right the wrong.
Lydia tries to turn Janine on June.
She tries to get into Janine’s head by saying June left her in Chicago on purpose. It doesn’t work though, and Janine asks Lydia not to make her a Handmaid again, saying she’d rather die in her cell. But of course Lydia doesn’t listen and tells her to not be “theatrical.”
Irene commits suicide.
Emily drives out to Aunt Irene’s house only to pull up and see that she’s hanged herself from a tree outside. Later at the support group, Emily says she’s glad she’s dead and she hopes she had something to do with it.
Fred and Serena have fans.
The Waterfords step out of the building they’re being held at in full Gilead garb only to find that the people they thought were protesting them outside are actually supporters. They’ve got signs that say things like “Praise be Serena Joy” and “Trust in God,” so it seems like the Gilead mentality has been taken up by some Canadians.
Season 4, Episode 9: “Progress”
June tells Luke about the last time she saw Hannah.
Luke reminds June once again that what happened to Hannah is not her fault. They decide they’re going to combine their resources and keep trying to get their daughter home. Luke shows June all the work he’s done so far and they decide on trying to give an inside Gilead source a call.
June and Lawrence have a chat.
Turns out the inside source is Commander Lawrence, and he makes June an offer she can’t accept: Return some of the Gilead children that she snuck out and he’ll give her Hannah back. He also drops the bomb that Janine is alive and back in Aunt Lydia’s clutches.
Mrs. Keyes is a Handmaid (!!).
Poor Mrs. Keyes (aka Esther now) is being forced to be a Handmaid (as if she hasn’t been through enough already), but the good news is she hasn’t lost her rebellious streak and is really sticking it to Aunt Lydia.
Serena has a sad-AF baby shower.
The Waterfords’ Canadian fans are sending them gifts, including tiny Toronto Maple Leafs jerseys and creepy little Commander outfits. And they get to open them all alone in their dark holding cell. Fred tells Serena to read one of the cards, and she’s obviously still mad about the whole Fred cutting off her pinkie thing because she, with a whole lot of attitude, asks, “Am I allowed now?” Clearly, the answer is yes because Fred then tells her she should write another book to get their message out.
Serena gets a visitor.
Naomi and Warren Putnam somehow got into Canada to visit Fred and Serena. She gives Serena some Gilead gifts and then weirdly tells her imprisoned friend that she’ll raise the baby for her if she’s in jail when it’s born. She also says Serena should come back to Gilead if she gets out, but Mrs. Waterford doesn’t seem too convinced.
Janine tries to help Esther out.
After pleading Esther’s case to Aunt Lydia, Janine tries to convince Esther that she really doesn’t want to deal with the consequences of her misbehaving, otherwise she won’t be around when “things get better.”
June gets to see Nick.
She arranges a rendezvous with her baby daddy and brings Nichole to see him. Although Nick says he can’t get Hannah out of Gilead, he brings June some pictures he secretly had people take of her and gives June all the info he has on Hannah. They have a quick little make-out and then play with Nichole before June has to leave.
Fred is on a mission not to have Serena and his son sent back to Gilead.
Serena is worried that if she goes back to Gilead, she’ll be sent to the Colonies or be forced to be a Handmaid because she’s the one who got Fred arrested in the first place. Fred promises he won’t let that happen, which we later find out means he’s willing to sell out everyone and everything he knows about Gilead in exchange for his freedom.
June wants Tuello’s head.
When she finds out about the deal the government made with Fred, June is off-the-charts furious (and rightly so) and lets Tuello know it. Luke has to physically hold her back while she screams at Tuello for letting her rapist walk away, yelling that she’s going to kill him.
Season 4, Episode 10: “The Wilderness”
June gives her testimony…again.
And this time, no one’s there to listen. She just has to do it on tape. And Tuello tells her that Waterford’s release is pretty much a done deal at this point.
Moira wants June to go to Geneva.
She thinks June should go there, testify in person, and talk to the press about all the horrible, horrible things Fred Waterford has done to her. But June doesn’t seem too convinced, saying it won’t make a difference in keeping him from getting released.
Serena is planning her after-prison life.
Serena’s getting a little ahead of herself with planning, saying she wants to be taken house hunting with Fred to find somewhere to raise their son. She has a weird moment with Tuello where he asks her to explain why she wants to live with Fred, but Serena says she doesn’t have to.
June faces Fred.
In a scene filled with lots of flashbacks from the Waterfords’ house, June makes her way to see the man who imprisoned and abused her. Fred, in his twisted mind, still seems to think they have some sort of meaningful connection and eventually gives his version of an apology for any pain he caused her. June seems to fall back into her role of fluffing up Fred’s ego, which can only mean one thing: She has something up her sleeve.
June and Lawrence reunite face-to-face.
She ambushes Tuello and convinces him to come with her. She takes him to an abandoned diner where Lawrence is there waiting for them. Lawrence tells them he can give them 22 women who were members of the resistance in exchange for Fred.
Fred thinks he’s headed off to Geneva but…
HE GETS TAKEN INTO TUELLO’S CUSTODY INSTEAD!!! This was the SECOND most cathartic part of this episode, just watching Fred’s smug face realize he wasn’t being set free and was being arrested by the American government instead.
Fred gets what he had coming to him.
In what may just be the most satisfying 10 minutes of the entire series ever, Fred gets taken to the U.S./Canada border, handed over to Nick and Lawrence (in exchange for the promised resistance members), and is then thrown into the back of a van. It’s driven out to what Nick says is “no man’s land,” where he takes Fred out into the forest where June is waiting for him. Nick and June kiss (which, TBH, gets a hilariously confused reaction from Fred) and she tells Fred he can choose either a gun or a whistle. He says she won’t shoot him, so June blows the whistle and a pack of her former Gilead comrades comes over the hill, chases down Fred, beats him to death, and hangs him up on a wall.
A package is sent to Serena.
A poor mailman at the holding facility opens up a package intended for Serena only to find Fred’s severed finger and his wedding ring. Unfortunately, we don’t get a scene where she finds out about her dear husband’s death, but maybe next season!
Luke knows what June did.
The season ends with Luke coming into Nichole’s room to see June covered in blood, and he instantly knows what happened, falling to the floor in disbelief.
