Wednesday on "The Talk@Home," CBS News anchor and managing editor Norah O'Donnell discusses children going back to school this fall amidst the pandemic. "Look, I think this is probably the most difficult decision that any parent can make right now," says O'Donnell. "It's not only about your children's safety, but your family's safety and not just their physical health, but their emotional health. When the American Academy of Pediatrics recommended, just recently, in-person classrooms, one of the things they specifically sighted was the mental health of children. They also mentioned the sexual and physical abuse that kids may suffer by staying at home, the issue of food insecurity. Many children get their best meals of the day at school." She adds about her own children, "Given all of that and that it's going to be different for every single family, as a mom, I want my children to go back to school and have some in-person learning."
