'How to Train Your Dragon 2' Clip: First Look at an Alpha Dragon in Action
Taking place five years after the events of the first movie, How to Train Your Dragon 2 finds our Viking hero Hiccup (voiced by Jay Baruchel) a confident young man, who spends his days on adventures with his dragon friend Toothless.
In this clip, we see Hiccup and his friends coming to the defense of a new character: Hiccup’s long-lost mother Valka (Cate Blanchet). Valka, we learn, has been raising a colony of dragons on an island haven — now under attack by a winged army led by the villainous Drago (Djimon Hounsou).
Just when things are looking bleak, Valka unleashes her secret weapon: the colossal Bewilderbeast. This so-called Alpha dragon is about 100 times larger than others of his species — and the differences don’t end there. Rather than spewing fire, the Bewilderbeast unleashes blasts of ice — though a lot less elegantly than Frozen's Elsa.
Will Hiccup and his pals prevail? Can ice defeat fire? And will we get a good look at Hiccup’s mother?
