‘Taken’ Pulled Off Schedule By NBC, Will Return In Summer For Saturday Run
NBC has pulled action drama Taken off the schedule, effective immediately. The series based on the Taken movie franchise had been delivering underwhelming ratings in the Friday 9 PM hour, averaging 2million-3 million viewers and 0.3-0.4 adults 18-49 rating (Live+same day) over the past month.
According to th3 schedule released by NBC, starting this Friday, Dateline NBC, which airs at 10 PM on Fridays, will be expanded to two hours, airing 9-11 PM. As for Taken, word is that the remaining few episodes will air at 8 PM Saturdays starting May 26.
Taken already was considered a likely cancellation, and the scheduling move makes that certain.
The thriller drama — a prequel to Luc Besson’s hit movie franchise — was retooled heading into Season 2 with a new showrunner and a casting shakeup. The series from EuropaCorp TV USA and Universal Television follows the origin story of younger, hungrier former Green Beret Bryan Mills (Clive Standen) as he deals with a personal tragedy that shakes his world. As Mills fights to overcome the trauma of the incident and exact revenge, he is pulled into a career as a deadly CIA operative, a job that awakens his very particular, and very dangerous, set of skills. In 30 years, this character is destined to become the Bryan Mills in the Taken films starring Liam Neeson.
