Tai’s Way or the Highway on ‘Survivor’

We’re down to the final six players on Survivor: Kaoh Rong, and it’s going to be interesting to see who takes what path to the end. The episode opened with Jason hitting Michele and Cydney hard with his pitch to form their own alliance. He tells them that now is the time for them to work with him to get Aubry and Tai out and that both are worse options to go to the finals with than he is. Michele says that he makes a good argument. Later on, for the reward challenge, the group was split into two teams of three. It’s Joe, Cydney, and Aubry on the yellow team and Jason, Michele, and Tai on the blue team. Unfortunately for yellow, Joe really slowed them down in the obstacle portion of the challenge, leaving Jason, Michele, and Tai to win the reward.

For the immunity challenge, the survivors have to hold on to a rope that balances a wobbly table while they race to grab wooden blocks. They have to bring their blocks back to spell the word immunity. If the blocks topple, they have to start over. The first person to finish wins immunity. Joe started off with an early lead, and Michele was right behind him, but both of them lost their lead when their stacks toppled. After that, Joe couldn’t remember how to spell the word immunity, giving the others a chance to catch up. In the end, Cydney won immunity. When they got back to camp, Tai decided he wanted Michele gone, and he told his alliance so. He didn’t even really make an argument as to why she should be gone.

Once the contestants reached Tribal Council, Cydney said that at this point, everyone has to play their own game, but some people feel more comfortable than others, so they think they can dictate policy. Tai then stupidly admitted that there’s a big group, but there’s also a smaller group within that, basically telling Michele outright that she’s at the bottom. The group then voted, but before Jeff tallied the votes, Tai tells him he’s playing his advantage. He’s putting both his votes on Michele. But those are the only two for Michele. Jason votes for Joe, and the rest go to Jason. Finally, Jason was voted out of the game, and of course he said in his final words that he’s proud of the way he has played. I’m glad that he’s gone, but I can’t really say I’m looking forward to seeing him in the jury.

Survivor airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
