Val Kilmer is returning to the big screen in the upcoming Top Gun sequel, but all the attention this week was on his 23-year-old son, actor Jack Kilmer. The Heat star, 58, stepped out with Jack at a private screening of his son’s new film Carte Blanche. The duo, who share an uncanny likeness, posed for pictures together alongside the film’s director, Eva Dolezalova at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Thursday. “Attending a high-profile Hollywood function, he comes across a mysterious man from his past, which begins his downward spiral as he is pushed to the brink of his sanity,” Dolezalova explained in the film’s tagline.
Val Kilmer is being criticized over a post about Anthony Bourdain's suicide, in which he calls his late friend selfish.
Val Kilmer will star opposite Tom Cruise in the “Top Gun: Maverick,” an individual with knowledge of the production told TheWrap. Kilmer will join Cruise in the long-awaited sequel to Tony Scott’s 1986 action blockbuster, in which Cruise’s aviator Pete “Maverick” Mitchell is now a mentor to a new generation of U.S. Navy fighter pilots. A rep for Paramount declined to comment on the casting of Kilmer, who has been spotted around the San Diego hotel the studio has been using since production began last week.

The actor hasn’t been seen out much lately, leading fans to wonder about his health. But he was on the scene at a movie event over the weekend.
Val Kilmer has a megacrush on Cate Blanchett. As we’ve mentioned, Val Kilmer’s Twitter is a treasure trove of bizarre stories about other celebrities, but his new one about Cate Blanchett is creeper to the max. It started with a post about how the Top Gun actor, 57, once “flew all the way to Australia just to talk to” the blonde, 47.
The first thing you’ll probably notice when visiting Val Kilmer’s Twitter account is one of the actor’s colorful abstract paintings. The nostalgic anecdotes (most begin with the word “Once”) are kept brief, due to Twitter’s 140-character limit, and are written not unlike poems (unsurprisingly, Kilmer is also a poet).
Val Kilmer seems to be on the mend from his mysterious health condition. The Top Gun actor, 57, made his first red carpet appearance in almost two years on Thursday night, attending W magazine’s pre-Golden Globes party at Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood. At the magazine’s big bash, Kilmer didn’t try to stand out with his attire, dressing in neutrals — black, gray, and white.
