Christopher Meloni is set to reprise his “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” character Elliot Stabler for a new series at NBC, TheWrap has learned.The new series will mark Meloni’s return to the Dick Wolf universe after exiting “SVU” following the show’s 12th season. The series will see Stabler returning to the NYPD as the head of an organized crime unit. “Chicago P.D.’s” Matt Olmstead is being eyed to write the new series and serve as showrunner.The series falls under the five-year overall deal Wolf signed with his longtime studio home Universal Television last month, which included series commitments for multiple new projects.Also Read: CBS, NBC Will Get Extra NFL Playoff Game Under Expanded FormatWolf will serve as executive producer on the project alongside Arthur W. The renewal extends “SVU’s” run as the longest-running live-action primetime series in TV history, through Season 24. NBC is giving three-year renewals to its drama series from veteran producer Dick Wolf, including the perennial “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” The pickups for the “Law & Order” series and Wolf’s three Chicago-set dramas are part of a new five-year deal to keep his Wolf Entertainment production company at Universal Television. Universal Television has been his studio home base for 36 years, NBC said Thursday.

A dreadful TV movie that looks more like a creepy high-school play, Menendez: Blood Brothers, premiering Sunday night on Lifetime, stars former rocker Courtney Love as the mother of Erik and Lyle Menendez, the brothers who murdered their parents in 1989. The movie begins by laying out the motive for the killings, as we see father Jose Menendez (American Crime’s Benito Martinez) sneaking into the bedroom of Erik to sexually abuse him. Mother Kitty (Love) is aware of what’s going on, but, pickled in booze, she tells Erik to just ignore it.
