"CMT Artists of the Year" normally celebrates the biggest names in country music, but in light of recent tragedies, the musicians wanted to make sure the victims and survivors were also recognized.
The singer resumed his tour on Thursday after cancelling several shows out of respect for the victims of the massacre.
“SNL” took a moment to recognize the national tragedy that took place in Las Vegas this week, skipping its usual cold open sketch for a musical tribute instead. Musical guest Jason Aldean opened the show with a short monologue and a message of healing and unity in the wake of the shooting in Las Vegas, which claimed the lives of 58 people and saw more than 200 more injured. “I’m Jason Aldean,” Aldean said at the start of the show.
